Q:

3d Printer

Got myself a nice little 3d printer, prints with ABS, Started making some baffles for my mrod.

The sweet thing about printing is its additive not subtractive like machining so you can create some really cool stuff that would be damn hard if not impossible to machine.

So if you have a idea for a baffle that you’d like to bring to life give me a holler, we’ll see if it can be done.

4K is way high nowadays.

I’m currently waiting to get my first set of k-baffles insert back from a friend with a printer.

If it helps, I’ll order the same design from Ponoko who has a much stronger plastic.

On the Mac AutoDesk Inventor Fusion is free. It is missing re-dimensioning so you need to edit it by hand, but it does the job. (and parametric dimensioning).

I’ll post picks as soon as bill finishes printing (tonight I hope, I’ve heard no more bad news).

Airgunner post your drawing and I’ll see if i can’t create a 3d object and print it.

Great!!! I’ll try to get it posted in a couple of days 🙂

That is cool stuff. It will be interesting to see if you discover a breakthrough in baffle design. Good luck!

I’m currently just using ABS, it’s pretty strong, PLA tends to be a bit more brittle, but stiffer, might be a good choice for some baffle applications

You can use ABS or PLA…check them out here…

What is the material that the printer uses, how strong is it?

Those things are so cool!!! I want one…not bad on the pricing either, only $4K to make just about anything you want! I’d love to be able to use it to make the innards of my moderator that would just drop into the frame on my SS :8: 😎 😎 8-).
I’d be happy to furnish a hand drawing of it as I don’t have a cad program…If you want to make one… 😉

here’s one for my marauder, weather hasn’t permitted testing yet and I’m a bit worried about it getting destroyed in its current form, only way to find out is try it.

Can we get some 3d printer pr0n?

the above would be considered soft porn, but the plastic is hard.

search the internet for makerbot they are very cool.

with one you can bake a bunch of stuff.

3d printers rock, I really want one but don’t have the skill to program one. Ive watched youtube videos on them very cool stuff.

I’d like to see how your mrod baffels turn out 😀

Roger

I have a few ideas that I plan on trying

I’d be interested in what you come up with, if you can improve on the baffle design.
