Q:

3rd Evolution in AAA Condor…

This rifle began as a .251 24″ barrel condor from Tony over five years ago. A few years later I shortened it up to an 18″ barrel .25. Now that I am running low on .251 pellets and completely out of surefire slugs…I decided to let it evolve once more. I had a 12″ .22 barrel lying around the parts bin so I set to polishing the bore and outside (breach area) with K2 polish and flitz. I managed to fix the buggering I did to the valve stem retainer (what happens when you don’t have the proper tool for the job) by running the tip of a drill bit into the opening (ever so slightly). Holding air thus far and I think it will be just fine, and the Valve stem is moving smoothly through the retainer as it should be.

Since I was changing the rifle to a short 37 fpe (Jsb 18.13 gr heavies running 970 fps) carbine…I decided to break out the ol’ paintbrushes and transform the two tone black and desert tan I did previously to tiger style camo.

Once I established that the SD was as it should be I shot a few groups with it and it is shooting the heavies into dime size groups at 40 yards no problem! This is going to be a day wrecker for the next coon that raids the garbage.

Now I have the perfect “one, two” punch. For long range smack down I have my .257 30″ 185 fpe beast. And for short range work and smaller game I have my 37 fpe Condor 12″ SS carbine! Enough typing…I’m gonna set up some shatter clays and set up my mil dots.

What about that bolt handle? Is that handmade and is that a stock breech? It looks sweet! Im am getting a .257 build and have to think about the breech and such. I will likely go with hammer cocker unless there is other solutions.
I really like the look of your bolt handle.

sorry, just saw this question two months later. the breech is stock with a second hole tapped for the bolt. The bolt handle was made by a chap on here named “subsonic”. Not sure if he still makes them?????

Yeah, bighting the bullet and ordering it was a little tough, but I love it! And now that I have gotten use to it, the gun looks damed near naked with out the stock! 😆

I actually made one following the same lines, and it took me two weeks just to get close. This was an experiment just to see if I could make one, and if I would like it after before dropping the coin for the real deal. Well, mine is ugly as hell, was a ton of work, a lot of tedious carving, the in-letting wasn’t too bad, but mine does not even compare to the beauty of the Mad Dog. From my testing, I believe he is priced reasonably for the huge amount of work involved, not to mention the quality of the product.

Hell Joe, I love it man. You’ve got some skill bro………..

They are expensive but I personally did not pay a thing for my two. I bought two rifles with mad dog stocks on them and when I finished parting out the rifles…the two stocks where free. The way of the working man.
