4 pellet review on new gun
I just got my gun last night, and have been playing with it. .22 SS with washer mod
All shots at roughly 10 yards (through 2 rooms in a 1 bedroom apartment)
power setting 1.15 (1 on horizontal scale, 1.5 on the roller)
#4 I started with RWS super h-point, and was not exactly pleased. I bought these for their light weight and large cavity. Unfortunately, this seems to decrease stability in flight. I give them a 6 out of 10. They react similarly to crow magnums in my 120 dollar winchester springer .177 (of course better, much better in a talon)
#3 —- None, There is close tie for #2
#2_2 H&N hollow point. These are even lighter than the super h-points, but they hit on target. The cavity is smaller though. I give them an 8 out of 10 with 75-80% dead on. I put these in a #2 slot because they are so light, and still deadly accurate.
#2_1 JSB Diablo exact jumbo heavy. Nice pellets, great accuracy, great consistency. 8 out of 10 with 80% dead on.
#1 H&N baracuda! (otherwise known as a kodiak, but they are the same weight as the double gold’s without the copper) They are so heavy, they started to spin my target and I had to reset every time. score, 9 out of 10. 85% dead on. I would rate them higher, if fewer pellets were scratched up, but it could be the batch.

I think they don’t group well because of the quality or lack of. Especially when compared to other JSB Match pellets. The ones I got where extremely dirty and had a bunch of malformed skirts when compared to the 18.1’s.
Yeah..all ssettings were the same..ya think i might oughta turn the PW up some?? It would be nice if these were to group good!! Think of the FPE numbers you could get with a heavy pellet like that 😀
edited to add…been outside for last hour or so trying out the 25.4 Monsters…at 47 yards, they are NOT near as accurate as I had hoped for…ctc was 3-4 inches 😥 😥 strange how one gun loves ’em, and another one HATES ‘EM !! They both shoot kick-ass accurate withe the 14.3’s and the 18.21’s…..go figure!!
Were you shooting using the same TH, PW settings? The Monsters might need more juice!
So far, I’ve found 2 pellets that are as accurate as hell…14.3 JSB jumbo express, and 18.21gr. H&N crow magnums…I just got some 25.4 JSB Match Diabolo jumbo monsters..I have a feeling they are going to be excellent!! I tried some in my Crosman HPA 2250B and they ALL wanted to go in the same hole.. 😯 😯 😯

my Airforce shoots most all pellets very well but likes Jsb 18.1 and 16 gr also as it likes kodiaks 21 gr and H&N same pellet I know you guys are new owners of Airforce Rifles they are a blast the safety issue has always been an issue go into Qucik Ref and do a search on Airforce Safety I took mine out but you will have to be the judge of that to make a long story short hard for me to do anyway IMO Airforce guns are safer with the safety taken out why there has been issues with them going off when taking it off safety not always but some and if you do decide to take it out what you do if you are not target shooting out hunting cock the gun by pushing the breech bolt foward load your pellet in the barrel now take and hold the cocking knob with your thumb or forefinger put some pressure on it pull the trigger and let the breech come back easy your gun is now un cocked with a pellet in the barrel you want to shoot push the breech foward to cock, pull it back and lock the cocking knob to one side and you are ready to shoot! best safety you could have an un cocked gun also this way there is no pressure on the hammer spring when you are out walking around 😆
I got my rifle yesterday and shot the following. It liked them all. At this point I couldnt pick a favorite 😀
H&N Baracuda Match .22 Cal, 21.14 Grains
JSB Diabolo Exact Jumbo Heavy .22 Cal, 18.1 Grain
JSB .22 Cal, 15.8 Grains, Diabolo Exact Jumb
AF rifle? I think quite a few people just remove the safety. I’ve read that the safety malfunctions sometimes too.
In addition, i’d have to say my biggest complaints about the gun are the quality of the safety, operation of the safety for every shot, and it doesn’t come with a tool kit. How hard is it to give me a 30 cent allen key. I paid enough to deserve a tool kit.
all in all, unimportant complaints.

I looked at ’em, and as far as I can tell, they’re good to go..didn’t find any that were damaged or out-of-round or damaged skirts…..I turned the PW up to 7.8 and “VOILA!!” them babies all wanted to go to the same place 😆
So, at 4.8 they suck…at 7.8 they are as accurate as the jumbo express and superdomes..they just need more air, thanks for the tip!!!
