Q:

4000psi!!!!

I see a Sumatra .25 Carbine on the yellow, owner say he fills to 4000psi. Any of you Sumatra owner fill that high? Not trying to knock the guy I’ve dealt with him before and he’s really down to earth. I know guys that own the larger bore go 3500-3800 psi so i’m just wondering.

No way in hell I would try that! 😯

If you took a look at how they are made and how thin the tubing is especially at the fill/front site sleeve, there is no way I would go anywhere near a korean gun at 4,000psi fill.
They are indeed well made just made to a very tight design with no extra meat anywhere.

May be a good curve. I can already see how that would go.

Fill to 4000.

Take it out, start shooting.

“Jimmy, look at this, I’m getting some awesome power out of this thing!”

“What did you do to it?”

“Nothing, just filled it up to 4-” BOOOOOOOOOOM

And they both die.

But the coroner verifies he was getting a very good curve out of it. 😆

quote Jerry:

He probably fills it to 4000 to try and find a power curve. I’ve got a Sumatra 2500 Carbine and the valving just plain sucks. I’ve filled it to 3600 and maybe a touch more but there is just no way to get a decent curve out of the gun. Unless maybe you go to 4000?

Rick tests a bunch of guns in his quest to build a repeater big bore. I’ve been tempted to go that high on my Sumatra Carbine for the same reason that Jerry mentioned.

While it ‘can’ be a powerhouse, I just keep it turned down to the 24fpe mark for lots of shots…. otherwise, I end up with a downward spiral. Shame as the gun itself is fun and easy to handle. I wish the valving was a bit more efficient. I know that A Team made a reg at one point for the Korean guns, but they stopped making them.

That does seem high. Looks like the valve can handle it but can the tank? 😯

Are they rated to 4k psi? Probably not a good idea….

Usually if a tube is capable of much more than it’s rated, but I still wouldn’t push it. Thousands of psi = potential bomb.
