Q:

.451 Build

Started on the frame today for the .451. Started with 2.00″x.375″ wall tubing. Turned the OD to 1.75″ and bored the inside to 1.375″. Barrel is on it’s way so I can make a bushing for it. Still have somethings to work out so it might take a little time before I have something that looks like a gun.

Barrel was there when I got home last night. Had to open it up just to check it out. Big barrel with a big hole in the middle. Should have had it turned down to .750″ instead of .875″. Didn’t relize how big the slug was until I saw the barrel.

a 22 long rifle penetrates right at 6″ of the rubber mulch at 120 foot pounds for a comparison for building your box.this is with the mulch dumped into a box not compacted.

Looks good

Thanks. I have the rubber mulch for the trap but I still have to build the box. Going to build it out of .060″ aluminum and drop a .125″ plate in the back for safety. Going to start recycling my lead. All my stuff to cast will be here Thursday. Looking for 600 fpe but I think I will be able to get more with the ideas I have and going to use. Still have to figure out a trigger setup. Have to figure everything out before I stick itin the indexer and cut the slots and put all the hole in it. Once I pull it out it will be hard to get it back in the same place.

Dyotat100,
I’m glad you’re on another project. I love reading your posts and seeing the pictures of incredible machining. Kinda like the TAG version of Ted’s Holdover on YouTube. Keep it coming…. 😀

Hey Buddy !!! I see you’re back at it !!! Can’t wait to see and hear about the finished product !!! Did you ever finish the backstop for your targets ??? You’re damn sure gonna need to to stop the slugs coming out of this one !!! 😀
