Q:

46 Yards group with the StormPup and Benjamin .25

I haven’t huntrd my StormPup lately because I didn’t trust the Leapers I had on, the reticle would jump slightly evrytime I changed the AO or even the magnification.

the other day I pulled the Centerpoint 4-16 off my marlin 60 and put it on the StormPup..

Sighted in on the 32 yards bench than moved to the 46 yards bench to shoot one group.

I was planning to shoot a 5 rounds group ( usually I don’t shoot more rounds because eventually I screw up and ruin everything πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ )

The 5 shots group was exceptional, so I got cocky and shot more, every round I would tell myself ” that’s enough, don’t screw this one up !!! ”

but I kept shooting until the 10 rounds mag was empty

I have to say that this kind of group isn’t one that I can reproduce at will, i just wouldn’t be able to shoot this kind of groups all day long.

But I was pretty dang stoked with it :biggrinn: :biggrinn: :biggrinn: it does show the potential

That MIGHT be true if the rest of the pellet didn’t look like shit…

quote Wingman NZ:

Thanks Manny, interesting thread.. Did Crosman tell you why they changed to the tapered punch?

Crosman official response was that the conical punch makes a more accurate pellet

Yeah, sure Crosman knows how to screw things up 😯 😯 …those older .25s where great

………..check out this thread about Crosman and it’s pellets

Thanks N.P, I just went and un-boxed three of the latest tins I bought and found flat punched skirts also! I have been shooting these things or years and never seen the two different punches.. I must go put them both on paper and see if there is any difference in my gun. They are shiny and smooth with no defects and have a good helping of graphite powder on them too.

It is beyond me why pellet companies like Crosman change pellet designs like this between batches..

The Benjamin pellet is, without a doubt, a Crosman Premier by another name,
I found an article on the web that stated Ed Schultz at Crosman took their best ballistic coefficient Premier pellet design,
which ironically turned out to be the .20 cal, and stretched it out to .25.

It also looks remarkably like the .177 10.5gr premier scaled up. Here they are side by side…

The Premiers are a very good pellet and very overlooked IMO they out shoot JSBs in both my .177 P12 and Steyr LG110 hunter and also the JSB kings in my .25 Marauder..
I havent had a lot of luck with the .22 Premiers but in most cases they are a bit on the light side at 14.3gr for my high powered PCPs. They seem to be more suited to spring guns and the Uk 12ftlbs PCP boys. There was a time not long back in field target that anyone who was anyone used Crossman Premier pellets, no I see the lack of sales have forced them to drop the single die run 1250 cardboard boxed match grade prems.. times are changing..

Here is the 2 different styles.

Old one Flat punch on the right, new one Conical punch on the left

Can you post a pic looking up old miss benji’s skirt? I have used them in my .25 M Rod for years and never seen a flat punch benji.. they out shoot the Kings in my gun though..

You gotta like those groups! So you got a decent supply of good Benji’s? I’ve been afraid to order more, after the last batch.

Manny has killed plenty alright; maybe we’ll get treated to another hog drop!

I still have a bunch of tins of the old style ( thin skirts and flat punch ) those are the ones that shoot good, the new style not as good.

always looking to buy some old style ones πŸ™‚

nice shooting and group,,,

the place is also helpful to shot ,,, keep shooting and post more groups ,,,
yesterday i took some other good groups and will post them if i get chance ,,,

Hell what’s wrong with that? You can hit anything you shoot at as long as your X-hairs are on it. Now lets see some kills….

Zonk

Nice… not bad at all for a Korean bore! I love days like that.. πŸ™‚
