Nearly finished a silencer for a 50cal Career Dragon Slayer.

Still a bit to do but should be finished by tommorow evening.

Point taken.
Done a few 9mm and never had a problem with them.
Cant see the bigger cal being a drawback tho.
Understand about air acting in all directions but it needs an area to act upon.
There’s no area available to act as the piston. The front of the silencer isn’t under any pressure.
Am open to an education tho. I’ll take any advice as long as it’s constructive or educational.
If it goes tits up, al hang me boots up.

Each element presents a pressured surface area. So depending on the pressure wave will see a significant cummulative force.
Not trying to rain on your parade just my observations and understanding of flowing fluids.
Walter….

Walter,

I cant comment on the grub screws (Especially since I was able to launch a .308 barrel that was “secured”…)

If you look at the threaded area of the device the hole in the inner part appears to be the same size as the hole in the outer cover – I don’t see any issues with that and your right, pressure acts in all directions…. but my best explanation to that would be to look at a career or an AA fill probe.

There are x4 m5 grub screws holding this to the barrel. I think that should be enough.
There’s no pressure pushing on the threads as no air gets to that point. All the pressure is pushing outwards only.
I’ll put money on the fact that this wont go pear shaped .
Ive done the odd one or two before.

How have the other .50 cal silencers worked?

Be looking forward to reports on effectiveness 🙂

BTW pressure acts in ‘all’ directions and flowing air acts as a hammer.

Blod that’s going to look sweet on a Dragon Slayer 50. The new DS 50’s in the USA do not have the muzzle break on them like the old one’s and the old one’s are hard to find.

I’ll get oil’d up ready.

Lama.
Brace yer self. Am coming in dry !!!!! 😯 😯

I’ll send Lama over 😳

Blodnob: That is some very nice work you are doing there! Now lets see some pictures of some of those shiny new air valves you make :]

Yeah…. am pretty good.
😆

‘Looks’ good.

If a .50 makes decent power then the fastening to the barrel appears weak. The threads holding it together appear minimal. There is a pile of thrust on a silencer.
I blew mine completely off the gun when only at .25 cal doing 120fpe.
So that is the reasoning behind my comments.

Wow. Thats fantastic.

Finished the 50cal.
Looks pretty good. I’ll ask the chap to send pics of it fitted and a report on performance when he gets it.

Hope yuz like.
