We trap a juvenile from the wild and train them. It takes 4-6 weeks of training and I will be out hunting with the new one. It’s a blast!
Awesome Sport!

I remember when I sent my cricket for tuning. What a sad two weeks of my life I had. A feeling of being lonely despite surrounded by friends. I was depressed until she came back!

My Fed-Ex guy used to pull those shenanigans until he did it with some medical supplies for my son. They told him the next thing he doesn’t deliver on time is his last. He comes early now (must have changed the route somehow). I have never had a problem with UPS.
My first cricket delivery was a nightmare. Waited till 6 checking and checking status. Then delivery said rescheduled till next business day which was Monday. I got on the blower and called FedEx in the am and they had it at depot. I took a 50 minute drive to go get it. I blew a sigh of relief when lady came out from the back with The BOX.

I actually meant to put that in the skeleton stock thread. That’s what’s coming today 😀
Yes it is. I remember waiting for my 1st one to arrive. I just sat on the porch until UPS arrived. 😀

Now that’s exciting!
Yes Bogman, I am a falconer. I hunt with redtails only. The best choice for our large fox squirrels. Friday is opening day of trapping season and I am going to be out looking for a new one.

Seriously; are you a falconer? If so, what type/species of hawk?
I just got my .22 standard. They are great guns. I’m not sure about my groups but my first 5 shots yielded 4 Prairie dogs and 1 rabbit

I hunt the squirrels with my hawk actually. The Cricket is for pigeons and starlings. :biggrinn:

Nice ‘hawker! A buddy of mine was a falconer and also used red tails. He let me hold the hawk while wearing a super-thick gauntlet glove. It was amazing to feel how powerful those feet/talons are. Every time the bird shifted its weight in the wind, my arm felt like someone was standing on it.
I’ve wondered if red shouldered or marsh hawks are ever used. They’re the most common here because the brush and dense tree growth gives them an advantage. We also have barred owls, those are great birds.
Our fox squirrel population plummeted because of the grey squirrels population boom last year; they ate most of the mast crop while green, leaving no fatty foods for the winter.
