7mm BAM 50

Well, I made a post about it over at the GTA (yemx), so I said to myself, “Self… why not make a post over at the TAG too?” So here we are. Any help would greatly be appreciated!!!

Build plan:

-BAM 50 as the base rifle
-30-31″ TJ 1-14″ 7mm barrel (same barrel that Ced has on his Corsair)
-Tethered @ 2900-3k psi (but tuned for 1-2 shots off tether) (probably with the “97” CU FT 4500 psi tank)
-CF Sleeve for the barrel (.50″ id. x .632″ od. bigger od if I can get it)
-Riser for the breech (only to clear the barrel sleeve I don’t need no stinkin LDC!!! 😆 )
-Converting to a side cocker, to take strain off the bolt
-Reshaping the trigger… thinking about a swept-back trigger. The factory trigger just looks like shit, and is too skinny. Ideas:


-Set up for 95 gr Boat Tail, designed by Bob on the GTA
-Attempt to retain as much BAM 50 parts as possible- I want it to look like a slightly modified BAM, not a 1-off rifle!!

Problem areas:

-Hammer stroke- need to get a bit more. Estimated 1″ is achievable. Stock travel is around 0.52″.
-Valve porting- may need to move some stuff around. i.e. move the valve seat forward. I could also move the port back, but I really don’t want to have a new tube and breech made… Here’s a pic of the stock transfer port from another tuner… it’s TINY:
