9mm cricket
Got to shoot one today, a rather nice gun and good looking. The cocking was a bit hard when pushing in pellets but not too bad. Trigger was fine in factory settings, roughly the same as my tuned Evanix pup. Accuracy was not there but the scope mounted was about to go back to factory so that may have been the problem. Noise was not too bad either. Unfortunately we didn’t have a chrony so I can’t tell the power. Unfortunately photos I took were really bad so you’ll have to live without the eye candy.

I can barely afford to shoot .25 caliber pellets! (Leyla…come to me!)
Have you tried to use lead balls? Has anyone? Less expensive, but I can’t imagine they would fly true beyond 20 meters, or less, before starting to spin off in one direction or another. Lacking any length that exceeds circumference, they wouldn’t have much horizontal stability. From a rifled barrel it would seem the spinning would make them wander all over the place. Kind of like Sewer Vile’s groups!
I don’t know what it is about big powerful pcp’s that stirs my guts, but for hunting deer, hogs, and such, it would be the bong!!! No real noise, yet powerful enough to bitch-slap that animal so hard, the water in it’s brain would form whitecaps!!!

This season the best 10 shot group was 26mm but we could only sqeeze in two competitons. It wasn’t exactly calm winds either.
What size of 10 shot groupings do you get with those Buffalo calibers at 100m ? Or with .30 – .35 cal ??
We use bigbores for outdoor 100M benchrest and silhouette shooting using pistol size silhouettes at 25-100M range. Great fun! On our last competition one of the lads was hitting 20cm high chickens made from 6mm steel with 500grain .50 bullets doing around 900 joules, they flew in the air some 10-15 meters 😆 There’s also a chance that local regulations will open up in the future to allow hunting with them, right now they are under powered even for mice – or so our authorities think.
Yea, the 9mm is an over kill for my sparrows. Even the hard ass Euro doves its an over kill,,,
I am really just a newbie to the PCP sport, Anyway I am running out of sparrows anyway,,, I have killed over 5000 ( maybe a LOT more) in the past 10 months, I am down to two or three a day, All my chicken scratch is going to waste,,,,

I have to agree with numbnutts, the .25 caliber is as big as I can safely shoot where I live.
To fire a pcp that possesses as much fpe as the .30+ caliber airguns, you need to have a lot of safety considerations when you go shooting. Granted the range is shorter, but any chunk of lead that big, still flying, would possibly kill, or seriously hurt anyone in it’s path, even at it’s terminal impact point.
Great weapon for the hunters, but I don’t see the practical side of anything that powerful around the ‘hood, to pop ‘coons, rats, possum, ‘dildos, and ass-shoot the occasional “Homie” creeping around your garage late at night.
That’s just me. Others may disagree.

No. I won’t. My sane airgun limit is drawn at .25 cal. I don’t have the time nor the interrest for casting and at proper power level those buggers gulp air like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t see the point, sorry.
Still can´t justify a .30 cal Airgun since it´s bested , IMO , by a .22 LR in all areas andl has very expensive ammo. I´d buy it from Hannu otherwise – just for the bragging rights.
It’s .357, not .30. .357 has several advantages over a .22 lr:
It can deliver more power, .22lr is limited to about 250 joules while .357 can make in excess of 300 joules.
It can deliver more power at long range (light hypersonic vs. heavy subsonic bullets – BC advantage).
You can use boat tail bullets making the point above even more pronounced.
At high power levels .357 can be made more quiet as you can use heavy bullets that stay subsonic.
.357 makes a much bigger wound channel in hunting use.
Ammo costs about 3-5 cents / bullet if you cast yourself.
Of course in case of .357 Cricket not all things above may apply as it is limited in power (due to regulator) and ammo length. Also, if the barrel is choked it won’t work well with bullets. So, perhaps you should reconsider 😆
The funny thing is that this exact Rifle has a serial number 00001 so it´s the first to come out of the production line. Kinda cool thing to own actually.

That said, what a badass looking pup! I like the beefy barrel and probe. I wonder what the weight comes in at..
I think I’d rather have a 9lb 28″ pup, than a 7lb 38″. That’s just me though.
It felt a bit heavy after shooting my Evanix pup and that one weighs 4.5 kilos scoped.
Edit, it seems it weights 3.65 kilos. Here’s Hannu’s website, I hope he updates the power information there at some point http://airguns.fi/ilma-aseet/ilma-kivaarit/kalibrgun/kalibrgun-cricket/kalibrgun-35cal-9mm.html
9mm is a lot of lead for a air gun,

I prefer the smallest I can get if it’s a bullpup platform.

Biggun.
Nice looking gun. I am interested to see the chrono, shot count, and accuracy results.

Ok. Great shooting! Now, a good .22 LR groups a lot tighter at 100m so my point in .22LR vs .30 and beyond airguns stands = expensive ammo and it does nothing i can’t do with a .22 LR. Sorry but that’s my humble opinion.
