Q:

9mm Slugs for the 201s

I’m expecting a 201s to be deliverd soon. I found a gunshop that has a box of 9mm slugs (lead). They are 130 grains.. I’;m wondering if they would work ok. Does anyone have any Pyramid Air 9mm bullets they could mic and post so I can use a s a referance.
Thanks

cadeau, actually when i first bought the 000 buckshot, i did measure about 20 of them with my calipers. they were spot on at .360″ and they were extremely round. and no, i did not throw any away at all, i just measured a handfull and never looked back. i just poured 6 of them out of the bottle and loaded them into the 6 shot magazine and started shooting. in my ultra, they feed so well. as to be expected cause they are roundballs…he he.

those .360 RB WEIGh 70 grains each…

Thanks for the reply Tofazfou . Very informative.
Do you mic the .360 round balls and discard any over .360 and just keep the ones that are under .360 ? What if some of the .360 balls are 4-5 thousands over?
I can see why people recommend .35 because if they are a bit over sized the balls will just set deeper in the rifling.

oooooohhh, i owned a 909 ultra 9mm. the only difference in the 201 and the ultra is the stock design and the ultra is a repeater and has adjustable power. the EUN jins only worked on low power in my ultra and only up close…lets say out to 25 yrds. any longer than that and you can see them curve horribly all over the place. i once set up a water bottle at 75 yrds and it was a sunny and clear day. when i shot the eun jins out of the ultra, i could see them through the scope going every which way but straight. never did hit that bottle with the eun jins. and i shot a lot of them and they were the worse ammo ever in the ultra and the 201 as reported by other 201 owners.

you see, the traditional skirted pellets dont work in big bores mainly cause most big bores dont have choked barrels and the bigger bore diameter make for short stubby pellets when you make a big bore pellet. just doesn’t work.

now, i will tell you this about the 9mm eun jins, i have taken a few jack rabbits and various other small game with my 9mm ultra and when i tell you those little stubby 9mm eun jins hits game, it makes the deepest thwaack sound. i could literally knock a rabbit backwards when i shot it from the front in the chest.

000 buckshot (.360″ not .350″, do not buy hornady 000 buckshot, its .350″) works just about the best and i heard from other owners that the SPEER 148 gr. hbwc works just as great and hits super hard. i used to buy my 000 buckshot here when it was 18.95 for an 8lb jar but now price has skyrocketed to 39.69: http://www.ballisticproducts.com/. but still great 000 buckshot. and there is i think about 800 buckshot per 8lb jar. which is a lot, especially when they were 18.95 per jar…..he he.

most guys with the 9mm shoot hard cast slugs which work pretty well. there are a bunch of casters now that make pure lead 9mm slugs. ask around here. its a big bore forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/414006/

also, another thing about the 9mm from korea, there bores are bigger than 9mm which is .355-.356″. the airgun bores are more like .358-.360″ hince why the 148 gr speer hbwc worked so well, they are actually slugs for the .38 speical which is about .358″, and the 000 buckshot is .360″

have fun with that 9mm, shes a good one.

quote Tofazfou:

pyramids bullets suck royally. i heard that the SPEER gr hollow base wad cutters were extremely accurate. 000 buckshot also works quiet well.

NEVER EVER waiste your money on the 9mm eun jins

Tofazfou, you sound quit sure about the EunJins 9mm being a waist of money. Why do you say that ?
I am expecting delivery of a box of 000 today somethime.
