Q:

A 12fpe plinker?

So, I picked up a used talon, that had been customized by R&L, I love the gun!
Power and accuracy!

But, with the RL setup, on power setting 2, it’s turning 32+fpe.
At 2000 psi, it’s still at 991 fps with 14.3’s.

With winter setting in here in Wisconsin, a lot of my shooting will be done indoors in my silent pellet trap,
Currently, it burns through one inch of ductseal like it was nothing. So I added a steel backer, and a second layer of ductseal.

In the UK Airforce guns are sold under the Gunpower name, no power wheel, and are limited to sub 12 fpe from the factory.
What springs and top hat are they using to get sub 12 energy?

I would like to drop in the low power one for the winter, and in the spring, swap it out for high power.

Thanks guys in advance..

no need to change much set up. just pull out the tophat and put a rubber washer or oring. washer form is better. if its not enough, put a thicker one or metal washer. shop around til u find the set up you one. that way when u take them off, u know exactly what the gun will do. i made 8mm OD with 6.45mm ID one piece tophat. bottom of tophat to where it sits 3.2mm. it will do 1100+ 43.2gr eunjin. with a rubber washer and metal washer i can do low 900 with king. so i can plink… and be ready for boar hunting in less than a minute. just restrict the tophat’s travel thats all. unless you want a serious paper puncher than maybe less hammer bla bla to reduce recoil etc

The reason I wanted to change is the talon is the newest one, and I wanted to get better aquatinted so to speak.
I may just tough it out and just play with the others.

I have a setup on a TalonSS with a micrometer tank and I get 200-300 shots, but I have the standard spring and hammer that comes with the SS.

Why don’t you use one of the other guns indoor. Honestly you are not making any sense.
Taking down such a good setup when you have other guns that could be used for indoor shooting.

Well, good luck

Cheers

The problem is I have a problem, more guns than I have hands..

The 12 inch .22 Talon.
A gen 2 marauder .177
A crosman 1701p .177 that has a larger transfer port boosting it up to 680 fps
A daisy 853
A crosman mark1 .22
A umarex 1873
A umarex p08 blowback
A daisy 179 catapult gun.
A crosman 761xl .177

I guess I could sell one or 2 and get another Talon.

Talked with Airforce today, they suggested the micrometer tank.
But they say I would still get only 100 or so shots per fill.

From what I have read, and seen in video reviews, from the uk, they get a couple of hundred shots per fill with the U.K. Setup..

Emailed a friend over there and he says the valve, the hammer’s weight and spring are different (he has his FAC) maybe I will have him ship me a setup..

i am not sure what the r’n’l setup includes.
you will need to use a less hot valve and probably reduce the hammer weight.

Buy a new tank with a standard valve.

But my 2c would be to keep this gun as it is and buy another one formindoor.

Why screw up such a great tune up?

Cheers
