A few CCW questions for you all.
Just wondering how you guys choose to go about your CCW carry duties:
1 – Where do you choose to carry? Hip, shoulder, cross draw, etc.
2 – Do you carry a backup?
3 – What caliber do you choose to use?

LOL My gun is right beside my inspection sticker, all police look at your inspection sticker and so does the criminal. They want to see what state your from. 😀
They don’t only see my state, they get to see my State of mind, not one time has anyone even come to my door and asked me a question. People get robed around here pulling into parking lots at the local businesses, but I have never been approached. 😉
What can I say, I don’t have to dial 9-11 and the police can have a good day also. So we both win 😀 😀

I don’t have a CC permit.
My gun is in a cloth case on my dash and to this day I haven’t been asked one time to let them see it. And I have never had to say Officer I have a gun, cause it is right there where they can see it.
That’s better than saying hey Officer I have a gun hidden somewhere .
That might spook the guy and he might just shoot you between the eyes. 😀 😀
Never have I been asked about the Cloth Gun case on my dash even if I’m at the tellers window at the bank or in the post office or any where else. It is perfectly visible and legal in almost all 50 States.
That way I don’t have to spend a week reading the 2’nd amendment and the state constitution where I’m going.
If it’s in plain site it is legal by most terms.

1. I carry strong side at 4 oclock IWB, OWB at 3.
2. I keep 2 extra mags, most failures are mag related
3. A Dan Wesson Valor in .45 ACP keeps me company.
Tron I would suggest attending a IDPA event if you would like to see some practical selfdefense shooting. Also check your state and local laws.
I have been told on more than one occasion that if i have to shoot, their are three things you should remember…
1. they will take your gun and you will go to the station
2. dont say ANY thing till you have an attourny (even if you did nothing wrong)
3. remember #2

I carry every day my sig 226 .40 s&w in an inside the waistband on my strong side plus a spare mag in a “multitool pouch” on my off hand side.. WA is an open carry state (although you will get unwanted attention).. With being foster care providers we have been placed with some kids that have come from very very f’ed up homes and on one occasion (before we were placed with our boys) we were called and told the police were inrout cause one of the parents were out looking for their kids… since then the parents of our youngest (who is almost adopted now after 3+yrs) put us in the same situation and that is when the thunder five got loaded with 3″ .410 000 buck and stashed where the wife and I can get to it if need be ( i hope not cause that will be a mess… 👿 ..)…. as far as back up carry I make shure i can hit what i need to with the 14rds in the gun (I’ve taken two handgun corses and am signed up for a third cause theyre alot of fun )…..
Can’t carry in Illinois, but my brother is able to in Missouri, but that comes to an end when he crosses the border. His CCW was issued in Utah because it was much cheaper then getting it in MO.
He did get pulled over for speeding in IL and the first thing the sheriff asked him was if he was carrying, lucky for him he wasn’t.
Springfield Armory Micro Compact .45ACP carries really light on the hip in a pancake-type holster…..nice gun!
Texas CCW, most times it’s a Kahr MK9 9mm with a pocket clip attached to the slide and in my front waistband. One backup mag either carried or in the car, loaded with CCI aluminum blazer FMJ’s.
When I am on a motorcycle it’s my 340PD loaded with .38spl FMJ’s and one speedstrip. This is carried with a Uncle Mikes pocket holster.
And every so often it’s a Dan Wesson Patriot 1911 .45 or Glock 34 9mm in a Milt Sparks VMII carried at 5’clock right behind my hip, sometimes reloads are carried in a dual mag pouch on the opposite side. This requires some +sized pants and very loose buttoned shirts or jacket.
All these in combination with a Fallkniven F1 and a Olight M20.
Texas 2007 extended the doctrin to allow your car to be considered a castle as well as your place of work.
Meaning – I can conceal a handgun in my car all day, every day, and it’s now legal. Before the law, you had to be on the way to or from a range/hunting.
There’s more to it but it has removed my need to have a CCW as I rarely want a gun on my person when I’m out… but heading to a remote ranch – no problem… driving around a bad part of town – no problem.

California CCW
I carry most of the time, with a inside pants holster on my strong side hip. I also use a kidney belt type holster, that holds the pistol in the small of the back (great while wearing board shorts). Finally, I also use a hip pack.
I do not carry a back up, but my wife also has her CCW.
I carry a Kimber .45 , and a S&W air weight 38 with subsonic rounds. With the subsonic rounds you get more energy transfer to the target without over penetration.
Tron, check your state laws regarding “Castle Doctrine”. Many States that allow CCW now have laws set up so that if you shoot a perp while he is conducting a felony activity (Like assaulting you) he and his family cannot sue you. Although “Castle Doctrine” is really more of a marketing term than a legal definition, it permits you to do 3 things:
1. You as the victim of a crime are presumed innocent.
2. You do not have any legal duty to retreat from an attacker, whether in your home or on the street.
3. You cannot be prosecuted by the perp or his surviving family.
Self defense or the defense of a family member are legal justification for shooting someone and at that point in Ohio you are immune from prosecution, criminal or civil.
When you use a handgun for self defense, you are likely breaking dozens of laws when you do it. Homocide, discharging a firearm within city limits, shooting at, on, or across a road, etc. are all illegal, EXCEPT when you are firing the gun in self defense. A legal CCW permit holder will never be charged with any of these if he is justified in defending himself.
If you are shooting crows off the power line outside your apartment you will be charged with discharging a firearm within city limits. If you shoot a perp in the mall parking lot while he is stabbing your wife, you will NOT be charged with a crime.
