Q:

A lost dog named Ares

Event #1, Sunday morning on the 3rd.
Our rental tenant next door always comes over to play with my dog.
Complained to me that the dog next door (neighbor A) was barking at 3am earlier this morning and ask me if I could talk to them about their dog barking. So I told him okay …….

Event #2, Monday late Labor Day afternoon on the 4th.
I’m outside working in our organic garden and my other neighbor (neighbor B) said what’s that you’re planning Zucchini ?
Replied yah and he told me that in the back he has someone’s black dog that must have jumped over to his yard from mines. He didn’t know how long he was there he just found him now. From the tag on him read Ares ………… and name and a phone number. Which he called and found out that the owners were vacationing on the mainland and they left their dog at a care center which he had escaped from and was very happy he was finally found.

The dog was trusty and looked hungry so I got him some dog food/kibbles until someone from the shelter care center comes to pick him up. Ares was hungry and ate 3 bowls of food ………. While we played with him we talk about where he came from and wondered how far he traveled to get here.

I could tell just from the look on Ares’s face that he was on a do or die mission to find his master !

The center sent 2 girls over to pick him up to take him back. They said the he had escaped on Saturday the 2nd and had jumped over an 8 feet high chain-link fence. So Ares had spent 2 days in my neighbor’s (neighbor B) back yard, no wonder he was so hungry ! They could believe that he had come so far about 5 miles through traffic and freeways but didn’t think it was a straight path to here either. They called the owners to tell them their dog had escaped and they were sadden to hear that because they had just lost their other dog recently too.
But they’re so happy that he was eventually found and will be back to Honolulu on the 7th.

Event #3, Wednesday late afternoon on the 6th.
Usually about 5 pm is the take the dog waking time here in our hometown.
My neighbors (neighbor A) wife was walking her dog and came over to see and play with my/our dog. So I took the time to mention to her about the complaint I had about her dog barking at 3 am. She said it’s because of the neighbor (neighbor B) that has a new black dog. So I told her no that’s not his dog and she said yes it is it’s still there and I told her no he’s not we return him he was an escapee from a doggy care center on/by Queen Street. She replied WHAT ? My co-worker friend lost her black dog from there couple of days ago !! I mention the dog’s name and owner’s name on the tag and she was shocked ! She’s on the mainland attending a wedding there and call her to tell her that they had lost Ares and if she could posted him on Humane Society’s lost and found for her. So you mean my dog was barking all this time at my co-workers lost dog Ares ! She’ll be back to work tomorrow and can’t wait to tell her the story, she said …… … … .

UNBELIEVABLE, what are the odds !!!

We ALL are just awestruck and just can’t seem to grasp this thing called life with all its unexpectancies.
With all the 3 events that had to occur to in which we would not know this true wonder named Ares !

We have a Golden and a little mutt, love them both.
This is how you tell who’s happy to see you.
You take your dog and your girlfriend, wife will work too, and put them into the trunk of your car. Leave them there for several hours. When you open your trunk I’ll bet you a $100 your dogs tail will be wagging and he’ll be happy to see you. Try it!

Really awesome story. Happy for Ares and his owners it turned out the way it did.
We have adopted a dog two years ago, wouldn’t want to be without anymore.
It’s true what they say, they are man’s best friend, can’t find better on this planet…
