A possible new standard of the hunting bullpup.
As you know I am not the guy who is satisfied with the present situation, I always need something more. So, even taking into consideration the fact that my guns are quite good from different points of view (accuracy, ergonomic, machinery, air efficiency, weight, compactness etc) I still working on making them better, even for few % but better then they used to be. That is why I ordered (again) new barrel at Lothar Walther, now for .25 caliber. As you know I believe that the best feature of air gun is accuracy, accuracy and accuracy again. That is why the quality of the pellet is the main factor for it. You know also that different pellets have different characteristics and if some pellets are not good for you guns that doesn’t mean they are not good at all. The key thing is “for your gun”, read it as “for you barrel”. I consider JSB as the best pellets from the point of view of accuracy nowadays and that is not because the director of JSB company is my friend :), that is fact.
So, JSB King are good pellets from the point of view of accuracy, but I felt that with normal barrels they are not able to show the real results. So I thought it over and make a new specification for the barrels especially for those pellets. I got the new barrels from LW for aobut a month ago and tested them. Well, now I can say for sure that my guns in .25 caliber with new LW barrels are became as accurate as my guns in .22 caliber (I know you value them for accuracy).
Besides we began to use a new valve system and gun became even more efficient from the point of view air consumption. I told aout a new “standard” for a new hunting gun.
It seems to me I am quite close to it, Imagine, you have the same size EDgun Matador (standard size), the same weight, the same compactness, the same sound level (almost the same to be true :)) , the same accuracy, the same number of shots (as I guaranty for standard now — 50 shots) but almost doubel energy in comparison to .22. The pellet is going out with the same speed, about 280 m/sec and has the same trajectory but is more stable on it, and less wind depending.

While the 25 gives a nice increase in fpe over 22 I personally can’t justify having both for the modest gain. The 22 is excellent choice for birds and small game/pests with rabbit size game capability with good shot placement. The 25 destroys to much meat on the small stuff but is better suited for rabbit size game.
Now if you were to make a 9mm Long Edgun pushing 100+ grain pellets at around 900fps for appx 30 consistent shots with traditional Edgun accuracy, that would be a hunting gun!!!!
It would be an excellent jump up in fpe for hunting larger game and a great addition alongside a 22 or 25 Edgun. I know I’d buy one in a second to compliment me 22 Long.

Do the math!…..34 ft/lbs of energy in .22 caliber!
………………….46 ft/lbs of energy in .25 caliber!
First, from these two numbers, add the two “4’s”: 4 + 4 = 8
Second, add the 6+3 = 9
Third, subtract the extra “3” from the “6”. Add the remaining 3 + 3 = 6 (This is because there are already two “3’s” in the “6” displayed…a duplication because we are only adding two sets of numbers, look closely and you’ll see what I mean.)
You must convert ft/lbs to joules to understand advanced Cryllic Math, which can add both vertically and horizontally, and applies the “Rules of Duplication” which eliminated that awkward third “3”!
Sum: (as Ed pointed out) is “6” & “8” = 68 ft/lbs. (No…in Cyrillic you don’t add the “6” & “8”.) The resultant sum is exactly double, or within a few joules one way or the other, of the .22 caliber’s 34 ft/lbs, just as Ed said.

Fortunately, I am educated in the Cyrillic math system, and am fluent in Armenian Phrenology techniques. I would like to examine your head contour some day!

Looks like the .25 caliber is the new .22, being superior in ballistics for specific purposes, like hunting, and now even target shooting, especially the longer range target shooters.
I think this will work for many people, especially where there are no power restrictions, or laws, interfering with a guy’s right to shoot things that need shooting!

So last shipment to the US ,May 2012, I received a .22 and a .25 Metador standard. Are they equipt with the “NEW” Lothar walther barrel with you new specifications? Or are they old specifications?
I am on the list again for 2 more metadors in LOONG version. Can you tell me if the “NEW” LW barrels are in the next shipment?

Since you have Mr. JSB’s ear can you whisper in it for them to put out a heavier weight .25 cal pellet.
Love the 25.4 grain, but would really like to see a heavy weight for these guns that are pushing higher FPE.
That sounds great to me! Accuracy is the key to success! Now if I could just get the email from Tony that the gun is in the U.S. and is ready to be shipped to me! This waiting for my first Edgun is a killer!

Glad I got on the list a few months back. I told Tony I’d take a .22 or .25 which ever came in when my name made it to the top of the list. Believe I’ll drop Tony a note and make sure I’m down for the .25. Ed you make this sound to good to be true but your work is appreciated. Just wish I had my new R3 .25 long to really appreciate your work. 😎 Hate to wish my life away but counting the days even though I don’t know what I’m counting to. 😈
