Q:

AA S400 on the way!

Have two TSS’s, that’s about all I’ve been shooting for the last year, decided it was time for something new. Was looking to trade for an S200, came up with an older S400 Xtra FAC instead. Should be here tomorrow, only hitch is it’s coming without a fill adapter, and I’m not sure if it takes the old or new style. Will try to figure it out today and see if I can get one overnighted. They’re not that expensive, I may just get both and resell the extra. I know there are others here that have these rifles, any info or suggestions would be much appreciated. Stay tuned!

Oh, I wasnt aware that there were three styles – Even more confusing.

Actually, YN, the first pic is the original new style, the second one is the new style, Mk. II. As I understand it, there was a problem with corrosion on rifles being shipped to Japan, AA changed material and improved the design at the same time, but kept it compatible with the earlier ones. The old style looks like an over sized Foster fitting. It’s another industy standard hydraulic fitting, gets a little confusing for some because the company is Faster, Inc., so they’re Faster fittings. They’re designed to be much more durable than Foster’s, and handle much higher pressures. That said, I wish AA had just used a standard Foster fitting, I now have a very sweet rifle sitting here that I can’t shoot, because I can’t fill it! This promises to be a rough weekend, my Talon is out of commission, too, so I’m pretty sure I’ll be going into withdrawals before the weekend is out :-)! Later.

Good choice !

I think the new style fill adapter will work with the old and new style rifles. IIRC the new guns have a T machined into the end of the fill valve and theres a cross slot machined into the fill adapters. So if you can use a new style on the old one, it just doesnt use the cross slot, but you cant use an old fill adapter with a new gun because the T sticks out and has nowhere to go…

This is old –

And here’s the new fill adapter –

and fill valve on the gun
