AA S410 Questions
I received a nice AA S410 carbine today, and after reading the manual, it states the factory can adjust the power level, is this something that can be adjusted easily? The more the better right? 😀 Also would like to mount a sling stud in the forend for a bipod, is there enough meat in the stock to accomodate one? Where’s a good site for info on these guns? Thanks for any help, i’ve been hearing a few of you guys rave about these for years, and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to own one, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have an S410 Carbine and I LOVE it..yeah, you can increase the power..Steve at PAG can do a mod to install and adjuster..costs about $60.00 IIRC..The “classic” tube is $85.00…
There’s another mod that is FREE and will definitely increase the power…I did it to mine and gained over 3FPE using 15.9 JSB pellets. But it does use more air, just a fact of life..the mod I did is to increase size of inlet hole of “firepot” to 0.150″ (from 0.120″) also open up the inlet hole (transfer port hole)through the barrel to 0.150″ (from 0.100″ ) Takes about 45 minutes to do the whole thing, NOT a big deal, easy to do too, AND IT’S FREE !!!! I can get 23 shots using the 15.9 JSB’s averaging 867 fps. Start pressure @ 190 bars, down to ~ 115 The “classic tube ” gives you about 60cc increase in capacity (~31% ) and should give you 5-6 more shots..I haven’t done it cause (1) it adds weigh to front of gun, and (2) changes look of the gun….personal taste..If you wanna do the “drilling holes’ mod that I did on mine, let me know, I’ll send you instructions with color photos that will make it bulletproof easy 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
On the older models there is a small hex screw under the stock on the action and has to be removed to axcess it it turns easy with a small allen wrench. I had a erb first , my carbine has a external adjuster and shoots 18 grain jsb’s hard for 30 shots from 170 bar down to 100 bar . You will love the gun mine stays at full power all the time . As for varmint control it’s aces took these chicken bandits from almost 30 yards both head shots just got tired of lossing hens this winter 
here you can see the adjustment knob on the outdise in front of the side lever thats where the screw is located on the action under the stock hope this helps .Don’t fret about power the gun if it’s FAC it is silly accurate

YN, i love the tape trick, that i will definitely use, as i was already pondering flipping the rifle upside down and using squares on each side then measuring between to find center, just proves there is more than one way to skin a cat. 😀
Hoot, i had heard of the classic airtube trick, will have to investigate the cost and where to source one, sounds like my kind of mod, and also an easy install. My gun was bought from Pyramid Air last July so i’m not sure if it’s the old model or new.
I like what i have seen from the gun so far, which has been mostly fondling and a few unscoped shots taken at a tree trunk, and the mounting of a Leupold scope thats been sitting in the safe for a few years. Tomorrow morning will find me at the unofficial national forest firing range behind my house seeing what this beauty will do. If it shoots as well as the nicely figured walnut thumbhole stock looks, i’ll be a very
happy guy.

I have the S510, and there is no difference, other than an ambi stock and the “Classic” length air tube is now standard equipment.
The newer S410 and S510 have a power adjustment knob built in. It is quite simple, in that it opens the transfer port incrementally. It works quite well. This is a non-regulated rifle.
If you have a nice older S410, Pomona Air Guns can install this external power adjuster for you. It uses a hex key, I believe, and has greater range of power adjustment than the AA OEM adjustment knob.
I asked Steve at PAG if more power could be squeezed out of the carbine. He said it can be increased somewhat, but your shot count will drop dramatically. Even with the longer “Classic” air tube length, the S410 carbine does not hold that much air. My advice would be to have PAG install the external power adjuster, and put the longer “Classic” air tube on your carbine. These are performance mods that bring you right up to current performance capacity on this sweet little carbine.
Recently, I dropped a 7 lb possum at 75 feet with a chest shot from my S510, using high power, and a JSB 18.5 gr dome pellet. It impacted with serious authority. I finished him with a head shot. If you need longer shots at game that size, or larger, you might want to investigate a full sized rifle with a bottle air tank.
Just remember, increased fps/fpe = more cu ft air usage. Unless you have a way to easily adjust your power down, you will end up using a LOT of air for non-hunting shots. Not a problem if you have a dive shop nearby, or access to HPA to fill your tank. It is really nice to be able to dial the S410/510 down to 20 fpe, or less, for general shooting, and jump your shot count up. I can get 30 shots on the highest power setting with a “Classic” length air tube. Dialed down, I can easily get 40+ shots on a fill. (Noise a problem? Ask Steve!)

There is plenty of material in the stock. A tip I got from WOK to find the center is wrap some masking tape from one side to the other, mark the edge of the stock and take it off, fold it in half and then reapply to the stock. Just drill on the fold in the masking tape and you will be in the center and it will help make the finish a bit better and stop chips.
I used the nut/bolt sling stud and not the screw. Thought I had pictures, but I dont.
I have no idea how to adjust the power as mine has the adjustment built in. Bear in mind that if you ask over on the Air Arms Owners Group forum that they are based in England so they tend to keep things like how to increase power to themselves – BUT one of their members might PM you the info privately if you explain your in the US.

2011 S510 Ambi-stock, 36″ long, adjustable power knob, longer Classic air tube. The Classic air tube looks good on the carbine, still leaving 2″ of barrel overhang! Birch stock still looks very nice.
Note that you can drop an inch from OAL by losing that recoil pad and replacing with a standard butt plate.
Check out the indent below the ambi stock. They shaved wood, weight, and added serious class and looks to the stock!
$225 and milled specifically for the AA S410/510 series. Of course it’s permanently installed, and an non-removeable part of the shroud. The knurled bottom is merely cosmetic. I remind you that screw-on moderators are not acceptable in the U.S. I remain a 68 year old, law-abiding, church-going, lifelong Republican. I have never broken a law, and have never lied in my life!!!
Do I mind if the 36″ “carbine” is now 43.5″ long? My neighbors gave me no choice. It performs exactly as I want it to, there is no notable weight gain, and while it’s not a 50 shot Edgun at 950 fps, it will sling an 18.5 gr out there in the 850 fps range, and with 30 fps. No possums or raccoons have been able to recover and return fire to date!!!
There is no better looking, or better feeling, pcp on the market. It’s classic and timeless. 10 shot mag is great. Steve at PAG has them in all aluminum and priced same as plastic OEM.
I tried to talk Steve into making a breech riser and putting on a larger diameter shroud, in an effort to keep the OAL to 36″. He did it for the bolt action S410, but said it was cost prohibitive for the newer models as he would have to design/mill all new parts. Zap!!! That rifle would be perfect with an 1.25″ shroud and no LDC on the end.
