Q:

AA S410/S510 .22 caliber Regulator???

Who makes a good regulator for a .22 caliber AA S510?

Is it worth the effort?

Curious whether my S510 would still get 30 FPE, or close, and increase shot count.

Interested in comments.

I talked to him through email about a month ago, he was going someplace! but said he would have some ready to go when he got back from where he was! I gave it some thought before I sold “OUR” S510 carbine, I loved the gun, I really did, but I think AA needs a make over on there power adjustment! I think it just needs to be set up different than it is, I just don’t think it works to it’s peak with the way it transfers air! when adjustment knob is turned. Maybe I am all wet, been there before! I think if they made it like some of the other guns with an adjustment in the rear of the gun? I see FX has an adjustment on the new guns coming out, with a similar wheel like AA has but a bit larger! I haven’t heard allot about the FX 400 with the new adjustable wheel other than I think it is a low med and high setting. I have a used FX 400 and so far not been able to get it set up outside and chronied! but shot out my upstairs window, which I use in the winter months often and it has amazed me in accuracy! I am putting the accuracy right up there with my Edgun! Yea I know Hoot that is putting it up there in TEDDDDDVILLE COUNTRY!!! Old Madison Dead Eye, curve ball pellet shooting SOB!!! but then after reading your post of him working at the dinner! and the spoon thing! I understand a whole lot better now that you have explained it to me better. I think he has been working way to much over time at the dinner!!!!!! and starting to like it way to much! I had some emails from a guy about the Alatros Reg, I might give him and email and ask him some questions, It sounds like you have some figures on the reg figured out and sounds promising! I did email Vincent a while back and like you said he told me he isn’t getting them any more, not enough sales. And I didn’t really like the mods you have to go through to get that one to fit and work, this other one I would like to find out more about! If a guy could get the AA S510 Carbine with extended air tube to shoot 900 fps for 50 shots I would own one, I still think they are one of the nicest guns in the machine work and fit and finish there is!

Definitely looks to be a screw-in installation, with no vent hole drilling. Self adjustable from 100 to 150 bar output. Cost is 80 Euro = $105.26, and he takes Paypal.

The lower bar setting is about 1400 consistent fps per shot.

40 to 45 shots. About the same as the .22 AA S510 gets without the reg.

What you are achieving is a constant velocity per shot, vs a pronounced fps bell curve, without the regulator. With the reg, about +/- 2 fps overall deviation. Without the reg, it appeared to be about +/- 50 fps deviation 853 up to 905, down to 853, a substantial bell curve, over a 45 shot string.

You won’t gain shot count. This would be an accuracy enhancement accessory, and is most likely the difference between a tack driver and a nail driver. I doubt you would jump up in disbelief at the 33 meter results with the reg. Now, Ted from Madison, who comes in peace from another planet to instruct humans about mil-dots, could make good use of this difference.

Another factor, you will drop from a max of 30 FPE +/-, down to a consistent 26.XX FPE with the reg.

How I would love to get some shot strings, with and without, the regulator to see how much the “c to c” widths would expand/tighten on five shot strings over varying distances. At greater distances, the “c to c” improvement might well be worth the money.

Might be a fun project for Ted.

Interesting…..

PS: Vincent Van Geran only makes regs for Marauders at this time.

Hoot my man, I looked into one for mine before I sold it and talked to a guy that swears buy these http://www.altaros.cz/ click on the English flag Vincent also makes one but I am told the Altaors are very good ones, Let me know what you find out, I am going to do some digging myself! 😯
