AA S510 Carbine FAC XL Shoots 18.1gr for 40 shots
Out of the box, set at max power, 18.1gr JSB, Max fpe at 936 fps = 36 fpe, low was 835 fps = 28.5 fpe.
Starting 200 Bar, stopping 100 Bar. 40 shots before significant dropoff.
Max fps = 938 fps
Dropoff @ 43 shots & 100 bar = 801 fps

It was too cold today to be outside. So I did this in my bedroom using a large BassPro catalog, a Gander Mountain catalog, Natchez Shooting supplies, and MidwestUSA catalog. Penetration was incredible, almost made it through all the magazines. Looked to be about 5″ thick and a 50-60 page buffer was left at the very back after the shooting stopped.
If the POI over 40 shots is not more than a few tenths of an inch at 33 meters, I don’t plan to use a regulator. Why fix it if it ain’t broke? If I’m hitting 835 fps after 40 shots, and reaching 28.5 fps, with 18.1 JSB’s, what’s not to like?
Unless my new Combro is totally out of it’s mind, I must admit I am surprised at these numbers. I expected much less in a 15.5″ barrel carbine!
I’ll do some accuracy after it comes back from the machinist with the new 1″ extra quiet, shroud.

i have been waiting for you to get that AA Glad to hear you got it Hoot!! Man if anyone but you told me it would be doing what it did, I would think something is wrong!That is a great string don’t you think? # 7 took off for some unknown reason but shit happens!! You and I know what the carbine did we owned! Now is the barrel on this one any longer than the one you had? if not it has to be the air tube? how much longer or how much more air does it hold than the one you and I played with? I love these guns but like you know the shot count sucked and the fps was low also not real bad but I like a gun that shoots a bit higher like your new one does! IMO you can always turn it down a bit but if you are at max and not there yet ain’t much you can do about that, and that is what I didn’t like about the one I had! let me know what the difference is in your new one vs your old one! thanks! Looking foward to seeing how it shoots, if it does as good as the old one you are harboring a great gun 😯
I just looked at Pyramyd Air sight, man I wish they would list things different than they do! all shoot 920fps even the double air tube? they list about 6 different carbines, I realize some of that is stocks poplar and walnut! there is one carbine listed there the bottom one that tells you the air tube size “they all should be listed” anyway I am guessing that is the one you just got listed that air tube as being 242cc whatsize is the standard tank? and the double air tube called twice? nothing said about it, If I am looking to buy one I don’t like to guess at what I am getting! rant over!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR NOW!!!
The Pyramydair AA S510 Carbines come with the longer air tube, which accounts for the increased shot count.
The ambi stock is beech, but has a very nice finish on it.
Another interesting fact…it is an “SL” model. A “Super Light” and I didn’t even order it that way. It must be standard now. No complaints as this thing is a pound or two lighter than the other AA carbine I owned.
I should get it back in about three or four weeks and I can do some bench groups to report.

Uncle Hoot, you’re killin’ me!!! 😉 I have been looking at one of those for quite some time. Does your have the longer air tube? Which stock material did you get? Those are great numbers and I wish you well with it.

Congrats on the new toy. Im thinking there is another gun in my future come tax return time or April 15th (airgun show in area). The AA 510 is one of them on the list. Please do some target shooting at 50-60 yards and post results.

Hoot, that puppy is showing some good breeding! 40 shots is a darn good hunting trip. And those AA pump up fast. Shootin through ’bout 5 inches of catalogs, 50-60 pages left?! 😯
It’s too cold to be blowing holes in yer wall.
A bunch of us are eager to see the groups, especially w/ the 18.1 gr. Haven’t tried those yet, only the 15.9gr.
How is the new chrony working? The shot-resistant design is tempting, I need to get some sort of chrony.
Beech, European Beech, is a fine, hard and stable wood. (American beech, for some reason, sucks; it checks all over the place. The only use I’ve heard for Am. Beech is popsicle sticks.) I got the longer version s510 in “Poplar” and no one could tell me exactly what the hell that means: Tulip Poplar (Tulip Tree), American Poplar, European Poplar? It’s light, but I should’ve gone for a harder wood; got few micro-dings in it already.
Let’s hope it warms up a bit by the time you get your gun back. Otherwise it’ll drive you nuts, kinda like a cat behind a glass door, staring at a bird…cackkkk,cack.cc.cacacac…
You know you’ll get out and shoot some anyway, even if everything is screwy ‘cuz the gun, scope and you are going from 60+ degrees to below freezing. “Got some great groups today..was so cold my nose was running and froze the stock to the bench real good.”
