Q:

AA400/410 series – how loud?

I am just about ready to take the plunge into Air Arms rifles. After everything I have seen/read about them, I think I need one. 8)

For a stock AA rifle with a shrouded barrel, about what noise level should I expect? Anybody have anything they could compare it to?

I am not in need of as quiet as my Condor, however it must not be too loud.

I really do not want to have to add anything to it either.

If you want you can always improve the original shroud, take a look at this:

Thanks Cyg.

I know you’ve proven beyond doubt that 12fpe kills pretty well. My shots are alot of times a bit beyond 50y, so I might be setting it a bit higher.

I was looking at the Evanix guns too, but I want adjustability and a little bit of noise reduction. The Evanix looks to be full-power only and no shroud, and not that much cheaper really.

The AA rifles are right about my price point, and I already have around 6000 JSB heavies sitting in my ammo box. Since the .22 barrel will never go back into the Condor frame and the Condor seems to shoot best at full-throttle, the AA sounds like fun.

second line is about 12 fpe, or 550-600 fpe with jsb if i remember correct, and its enough for alot of critters to 50 yards….sound is low.

half power sound is still low but i would suspect if of actually making 15-18 fpe

Thats about what I expected to hear. Thanks guys.

Christmas bonuses are coming this week, and I am gonna treat myself this year. Last year it all went to the damn credit card LOL.

I have neighbours on both sides of me. We have 50×100 lots. If I shoot my AA410 on half power they can’;t hear any shot’s. Half power probally produces 600fps with JSB exacts.
If I’m shooting cans they can hear the clink of the can so therefor I just shoot out into the open field . On 3/4 power It’s no louder then an air nailer. On full power if the neighbours are outside it may cause them to look over the fence to see what the sound is but untill they know I’m actually shooting a gun it probally wouldn’t bother them.

I have mine set at 1/2 power and it’s quiet for my backyard. But mine is also a .177.

On full power they arent super quiet… but they are quieter than a benji 392 or a crosman 2280.

I wouldnt target shoot on full power in my yard – but the odd shot doesnt worry me.

Low power they are pretty quiet.
