Accuracy at 100 Yards
Owners of the Cricket .25 Caliber Rifle can you advise what accuracy you are getting at 100 yards?
Thanks!

Ok. Thanks. I’ll test them and keep an eye on the bore cleaning although i do it often as is.
They are down right dependable in 10.5gr .177, 14.3gr .20cal and 27.8gr .25cal… but they have a bit of a week spot with their 14.3gr .22 cal pellet… it hasn’t shot very well in any gun Ive tested and in my opinion the pellet should be longer like the other three and weigh closer to 16-17gr..
Now you and Hoot: have convinced me to try them in my Lil ´Roach (Compact .177) so i just ordered a Tin of Discovery Domed in 10.5 gr. I shoot JSB Heavies at 10.34 gr now and those work very well. I´ll report back after testing them.
BTW Winged Wombat : Do you have any pointers at what speed these work the best , universally ?
I found 900-980fps to yield the best groups at 100m in the L/W barrels.. Just a word of warning though, the Crosman Premiers in the brown boxes are the single die accurate ones boxed for F/T use by crosman, the tinned “Premier” pellets generally come from multiple dies and head sizes vary within a tin.
I have not tested the Benjamin Discovery Domed pellet tins but if the Quality is as good as the Benjamin .25cal domes they should be as good or maybe even the same as the boxed batches. I have heard Crosman have discontinued the 10.5gr pellets in the boxes now and are only selling them in tins. still loads of older stock out there though. The .20 cal Prem is also discontinued due to lack of sales which is a shame as IMO it was the best .20cal pellet ever made and was the basis of high BC design for their .25cal pellet that shoot so well in most guns.
The Crosman pellets are also much harder than the JSBs with added alloys in the lead mix so be sure to stay on top of bore cleaning as they will lead up your choke much faster than the JSBs do at those higher speeds.
Thank you Sir !
I’ve read just about all your great and informative posts.
I appreciate everyone’s posts, but I learn from the best.
In the past I’ve had pellet lots that shot so well and ran out of them.
That gun never shot well with any other pellet thereafter.
Sometime I think that the barrel somehow got seasoned or broken in with that so called magic pellet.
That it will take some amount of shooting maybe another +4,000 time to come even close to what I had.
Sold the gun.

Check the above comment and the speed was 280 mps , if my memory serves me correctly.
GKU nailed the Million Dollar question ! That Boy has been observant in the past. Those are indeed shot with EdGun branded JSB Kings – courtesy to Wingy the Kiwiman – while the RWS Tin and Pellets were closest at hand to give some size perspective when this pic was taken.
First off…eelec-tric-eyebulbs, who said the Finnish Pastry Nibbler used pellets??? But…IF he did…
My educated opinion is he used…DUH!!!:
31gr, .25 caliber RWS Superdomes!
Well, that’s a very fair and rational assumption uncle. But don’t underestimate the irrationalism of Ville.
I wont be surprised if he used something other than the pictured pellets for the actual test 🙂
Thanks GKU. This been puzzling me and you explained it.
BTW they are not cheap and only 20-30% cheaper than the expensive JSB. They really need to deliver to justify the switch. For blinking you can still find pellets half their price, and for long range and hunting I would still stick with the best known despite price. So not sure I am finding a good place for the crosmans yet!

And if so why more expensive in bulk? Same discrepancy in the Crossman larger calibers
Yes and no.
The tins are made form mixed old molds.
The bulk ones are made from a single mold and are said it be more consistent (AKA brown box heavies).
I tried both and yes the Brown box heavies produces less fliers.
Also you might ask Sir Ville about the pellets he used in his above pic.
If I’m not mistaken he used EdGun branded 25.4 gr JSB King´s. and used the SD for size comparison ?
SD never shot as great as Kings for me anyway. 😉

Are these two the same pellets?

I agree totally, there was a time that they were looked at as the best pellet before jsb showed up.. I still find they perform better in windy conditions than the same weight in jsb and all have a higher BC than the jsb equivalent.

I think those Benjamin Domes are one of the most under-rated pellets on the market. Brand name does not do them justice when it comes to accuracy for a relatively inexpensive pellets. I’ve watched some videos and the Benjamins were always, if not first, always very close to first place in accuracy.
They have worked well on the guns I’ve owned.
Hoot:
My groups are more spread out than that after I increased to 930 fps. Gonna try the Benjamin domes once.

Yeah…pretty certain of that. :twak:
Speed is in the early 900’s… It’s ok Double-E, I made a mistake once.
Hoot:
…no need for thanks…I’m here to serve!
