Q:

adjustable scope rings for distance

Need some advice on scope setting. I bought a set of Burris Signature zee rings. It came with 10+ AND 10- as well as a set of zero shims. Trying to set this scope up correctly one time. I installed them on a Vulcan .22 using a BSA 4X14-X44 FFL scope. Question is this. If I set scope up with zero inserts I am 10″ low at 20 yards. If I put the 10+ and 10- in I can get it within 4″ shooting low. That takes a full turn of the turrent to get it up to poa at only 20 yards. I want to use all of my scope settings for distance, I do not want to have to use much vertical adjustment just to get rifle to zero at pop. If I understand this correctly, that means I am off about a half miles at 100 yards. (at least 50 inches) I have also seen the FX No LIMIT rings that Ted likes so much. Does this make sense, meaning am I going in the right direction. Thanks for any input you have!

Eagle vision has them too, I just ordered this one and will give a review once it is in my hands http://eaglevisioncam.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=62_71&product_id=59

…I reread your post, and I extrapolated what you posted. The 20thou of angle you achieved with your inserts gave you 6″ more elevation. My math says you need about 35thou. Insert combinations get you to 30thou (1″ low) or 40thou (2″ high). You actually needed 33thou.
Brownells sells inserts. You could buy a 20thou and added to your 10 get to 30thou. Feedback posted says there’s some manufacturing variation in the dimensions, so you might consider getting the set of 3 to play with (empirics beat theory every time).

Dunk50,
Sorry…I’m late to this party as well. I have experience with the Signature Zee rings. I started off using them on my hunting rifles, because it allowed me to compensate for bad receiver holes, bases etc without damaging my scope tube (I like nice glass). It also allows me to center up my scope without using up my internal adjustments to get there and it does a pretty good job of preventing ring marks on scopes. I now started using them for my air rifles as well.

Burris makes the Pos-Align inserts in different offsets to help situations like yours. They’re available in 5 thou, 10 thou and 20 thou offsets. Combining the different offsets in different up/down positions, you should be able to get close on your elevation. If you’d like, post the distance between the midpoints of your rings. With the ring spacing and the info you’ve already posted, I’ll run the math for you on what combination of inserts might be able to get you centered up (I’ve been getting lots of geometry practice helping the kids with their homework).

Bit late to reply but if there anything like the adjustable rings I have moving the rings closer together will increase the degree they are canting the scope by slightly.

You can also just use credit card slivers in the back bottom of the lower half of the ring between insert and scope tube. There is a formula circulating somewhere where you can calculate the thickness of shim needed depending on ring spacing, and quantity of MOA compensation needed. Comes out pretty good on the ones i’ve done.

You could always schim the scope yourself. Here is a thread on how to do it without causing stress in the scope. However it is in swedish so you will have to translate it in a translator or just go by the pics. http://luftvapen.info/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=15476&p=282122&hilit=Epoxy#p282122

You can also get a waever to dovetail adapter ad get fx no-limit.

But the best option are theese adjustable mounts: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SPORTSMATCH-ATP72-30mm-Weaver-Picatinny-Scope-Mounts-ADJUSTABLE-for-HEIGHT-/301412193927?hash=item462d911687:g:OlAAAOSwHQ9WWJw7
