Q:

Advice for 1st time buyer

I have been lurking for a while, but now that I have decided to buy an SS, I want to know what is the best way to start?

Looking for a SS in 22 caliber using the scuba tank kit.

Should I get a new gun w/o scope from Pyramid Air or should I go ahead and get their scope package?

My primary purpose for the gun is to kill pests, typically from 5-30 yards. I will be modding it to get the noise down immediately. Not sure if I need a scope at all or if I should get open sights or maybe a laser.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

My preference would to be finding a used gun with some upgrades, but they seem scarce. I will keep my eyes open though.

Any good places to search for used guns other than here and the yellow forum link?

Thanks.

Talon/Talon SS

i would just wait and buy one from here…get a way better gun and better deal here 😉

Better to get one that already has most of what you want rather than buying everything seperate. I think it is a very wise decision. You would have added all of that stuff later anyway…..Try talking to the guy….He may come off of the price a little and then you both feel like you made a great deal….
Now comes the wait…I hate that part….
Welcome

Thanks for the responses guys. I have emailed the seller on Yellow Forum. A little more than I wanted to spend out of the shoot, but looks to be a good deal.

I am excited about getting one of these guns. Its a blast tinkering with toys like these. I look forward to learning more from the folks on this forum.

There is a Talon SS with 18″ barrel and shroud for sale in the yellow classifieds…Better scoop it up quick it is a good deal….

You will want a scope but not necessarily the scope they have in a package.

For the 5-30 yard shooting you are doing there are a few inexpensive scopes that will work well for you.

One is the Leaper 3×9 50mm scope that runs like $60. That is a decent scope to get you started with out going poor. Get some high accushot mount for it for a few buck and you should be good to go.

That is the scope I started with my Talon SS and it worked pretty good.

I would say….get just the rifle and put a BSA Optics Tactical Riflescope w/Illuminated Red Mil-Dot Reticle on it….A laser for the 0-10yd shots and a pump for backup incase you don’t have time to refill an empty scuba tank….And you may as well get the 18″ barrel and a shroud for it because ya gonna end up doing it any way….You can then swap the barrels out and use the same shroud….Hopefully I will be selling my SS in about a week and half…I am just waiting on a few parts for my Condor.
