Advice on “ping” noise when fired
Hello everyone,
I’ve got a standard 22 mutant that I enjoy shooting except for the “ping” noise from the hammer area when it’s fired. If it wasn’t for this “ping” noise the gun would be silent, well I have an extra Donny FL mod on it so that helps too..
Any suggestions? Hopefully someone has fixed this issue already, I’m handy enough with things to follow instructions if you have them.
Thanks,
Ken

Hi All,
With this topic in mind, does anyone know of a source of spare hammers for the Taipan Veteran? I can likely make some for myself on an old Hardinge toolroom lathe but that would not be feasible if my friends all like the results of the hammer mods. (As usual the geometry is easy. The material properties like heat treat are the mystery as I’ve not got a hardness tester.)
I’d have to say that any mechanical engineer that is serious about mechanism design should be required to tear down a Taipan Vet. They are a modern example of a company that designs for manufacturability to make a quality product at a competitive cost. Look at the trigger group. All wire EDM. There are no holes as the wire is just run in from the edges to cut the pivot locations. I am quite amazed.
