Q:

Aeron scopes ? V/S Vortex Viper ????

I like my Hawke scope but the lines are just to thin for my old eyes, I plan to put the Vortex Viper 6×24-50 30mm scopes on all my guns
Cricket 22 and Mutant 22 on order, and its already on the 25 Cricket.
I have been reading on the Aeron scopes are just as good, The Aeron’s are running about 325 and the vipers about 475, Even if the Viper is a little better its the way I am going, But how can the Aerons be just as good or better at that price, ???
I am sure China has there hands on both of them, Just asking around before I sell my Hake and the Mutant gets here….
I do not have the funds to spend 1,450 bucks on a scope like some of you guys , I got to hit the middle road.
But I just would like to hear what some of you guys say, that know what your talking about…

Elmer this is what I am using on my 25 cricket. I have a Hawke On my 22 cricket and the 4x 16 I thik and the lines are so small for my old eyes Its just hard to focus
The Viper pulls in so much more light that its just night and day….
I plan to put the viper on all three of my guns, Its that good.

Optisan Viper 6-24×56 rifle scope. Side focus, illuminated MTC SCB reticle. Target turrets, flip open lens covers, fully multi coated lenses. Shock and fog proof. Nitrogen purged.

Which exact model Vortex Viper? The PST version? My advice is give Athlon Optics a good look. I have two of them, a Midas BTR and Talos BTR. For the money I don’t think they can be beat. Even for a Chnese made scope. They are great for airgun use due to their reticle and close parallax. I also don’t think mounting a 15″+ scope on a Mutant is a good idea regardless of weight. It’s just too damn long for a 23″ gun. I mounted my Midas on a Mutant Short just to see and its too long and looks a bit funky and its less than 14″ long. The Argos line is also a good option and is priced in between the two I mentioned above. Again, take a good look at these options. For the price of one PST, you can equip 2-3 guns with a really nice scope. I also have no incentives to recommend any of their products but too many forum members are stuck on crappy options in optics that it’s bothering me. We’re like lemmings and follow the Hawke and Aeon crowd. Time to open your eyes, literally folks.

I think the manufacture sells direct from this site. They also sell on OpticsPlanet.
