Q:

AF-vs-Scott-vs-Fire Station

Well I’ve been wondering about the AF gage supplied with my SS for some time.

When filling, I noticed the Scott tank guage red 2900 when the fill guage on the Scuba yoke red 2500. So naturally I wondered which was right. the 25.00 if that much AF supplied gage, or the integral gage on the high quality(and expensive) certified tank for fire fighters.

I took the 88 cf carbon fiber tank down the the Fire Station yeaterday and had it filled. It is a very nice fill station they have, and it is re- certified every 3 months. The guage was reading 2900 on the bottle, and exactly 2900 on the Fire House Fill Station system when we began the fill. (I say we because they showed me how to use the equipment.) WOOHOO!!! 😀 😉

Looks to me like when I filled the AG Bottle to the full 3000 a few times, she was actually at 3400! 😯

No valve lock though. But I didn’t think the AirForce Guage would be off that much! DAY-YUM! 😕

Yeah, AF gauges suck and they always have been. At least every since i bought my CONDOR some years back. Mine were also off by like 300-400 psi. Bought a new gauge from MAC1 and have never looked back since.

thats crazy but good to know i would not have thought that it would be off that much either
