Air Arms 410E Side Lever ARRIVED !!!
… Well actually just part of it did. The single shot tray I ordered from RC machine. The gun itself is still in the hand’s of FedEx somewhere between here and Illinois. Delivery date was pushed back from tomorrow to Thursday 😡 .
In the meantime I have this to have my way with.

and loaded with a poly tip predator that Anthony sent me years ago.

I went to take a shot with the 410 yesterday. Just wanted to run through a magazine at low power to play with chairgun.
Aimed high 2 mill dots on 3x which should have put me right in the black…. pellet went WAY low and bounced off the brick wall below the cabinet my pellet trap.
I checked guage on gun and its in the yellew, refilled and it was at 50 bar. So I refulled to 150 bar and dry fired it 3 times and then let it sit. 1 hour later it was back down to 50 bar 😯
I went online hoping cygnusx was there… He’s usually who I go begging for advice when I need it, and thats often… (which is why I let him abuse me like when he borrows a gun and a scuba tank for a week and it turns into 4 with no end in sight.)
He suggested a few things and said it might just be a loose guage and what to do. I go to the gun and now its even lower and I actually hear hissing… and its from the guage.. yay…. All I had to do was tighten the allen screw that holds the aluminum block to the air cylinder and that seems to have fixed it.
Now I know how hell felt when his leaked… $900 guns have problems too I guess.
Nigel,
Video still darker than I hope…. but better than the one on PAG i think.
Gun is on the lowest settings and the action is louder than the blast. Its still loud on full power inspite of the larger shroud, I’m sure the extra size helps… but it isnt that big a difference I dont think. The thread at the end is really nice though !
Cygnusx asked for a video of it on the different power levels with the camera by the target…..
Unfortunatly the target is very loud, so they all sound similar 😕 . I’ll do it again at a “soft” target tomorrow when I get a chance.
Starts on High, then Middle and finally low. Using Kodiaks and the same POA for all shots on 10m range.
Here’s what softchrono had to “say”….
High – 830 fps

and Low – 299 fps

Softchrono gave near perfect velocity reading’s. Not sure how it managed to make out the impact on high power.. all looks the same to me.
Nice vid YN, better than any Ive seen on the new action.
What power level was that at ? , seems like the action is as loud as the dry fire.
Is that because of the new shroud size?
Thanks for posting this, may sway me to get a new gun,LOL 😈
NA
Tramp,
I could cycle it no problem while still keeping scope on target.
Its nice and smooth, but does require some effort obviously to compress the hammer spring when you pull it back, going forward is just loading the pellet into breech and requires just a slight press.
YN, that side lever action looked very smooth in your video. What about the effort? Could you have cycled it ( incl. indexing the magazine) without taking your sight off the scope/target?
Btw, beautiful rifle.
curse away lol someone gotta take the blame 🙂
100 shots on low power yes….about 70-80 at around 12 fpe
May not work for you, but it did for mine…. After the first fill, no worries unless you run it down to empty again.
I tried everything I could with the pump… cocked, uncocked, dry fired… hi power, low power…. Nothing worked.
Finally got it to take some air from a Tank….
Cygnusx.. I was cursing your name !!!!
Looks great, Ross!
Hey on that first fill… you need enough air in there to close that check valve. I learned a little trick that worked on mine with a hand pump.
Open the bolt and pump like a madman for about 20 strokes, then after that, pump about half way a few times to build up a bit more and then pump that last full stroke.
May not work for you, but it did for mine…. After the first fill, no worries unless you run it down to empty again.
Great looking gun!
edit… guess I should have read better.. you got it to take air. Anyways, the above worked on mine to keep that check valve closed from empty… ah well.
The Wolf is a very quiet rifle, that’s for sure. I was pleasantly surprised when I got mine, and I think that they have the potential, along with the MKIII to be the quietest rifles out there bar none.
Jim,
Sounds about the same as mine. Action on yours is obviously a lot quieter though, and I think the shroud is a bit bigger on the wolf? New 410 shroud is 20mm. Its got some bark on full power. On low power you hear the action and the pellet hitting the target. Power goes WAY down, I can see the Kodiak as it goes through the air even on my short 10m range – About 5 inches POI difference between Hi and low power.
Cygnusx said he gets about 100 shots before he refils with his set to 12 fpe….. I cant imagine how many shots you’d get on the lowest setting.
I spent about 15 minute’s shooting it… before I knew it I had gone through a whole tin of Kodiaks. I like the magazine and the cocking. Real easy to do both. I had a BSA S-10 and I liked the magazine – didnt know any better, then cyg got his 410 and ruined my ignorant bliss.
That really is a beautiful gun.
Looks “as new” as well.
Congrats Ninja! that sounds nice for the high/low power and you’ll prolly get a ton of plinking on low. Talked to Cygnus about his a few weeks ago and he was praising it up and down.
The gun and scope setup looks PERFECT.
Oh yea how loud/quiet was it on high/low power? My Wolf has a little snap on max power(gun louder than the pellet) and barely a click on low power(pellet louder than the gun) and they look like they have similar shrouds.
Jim.
That fluted end cap is very nice Ninja, and your going to love that gun 😀 . I have the S410 in .177 with the bolt that I got this year and it’s a sweet shooter.

Ok…. I put a thick book behind the target so I didnt get so much target noise. I even shot the Webley Patriot first to give a comparison.
Shots go – Patriot. 410 Hi, 410 Medium, 410 Low and then I did the Low again because the first low shot bounced off target and you can hear it… didnt want any complaints that the bouncing distracted from the noise of the shot.
Next time I see Cygnusx we will compare old vs new style 410.
