Plus you’re only looking at that long for the initial fill, after that its just topping off.
What would be good about this compressor, if it works, is that while it may take 36 hours to fill an 88 CF tank to 4500PSI, it shuts off by itself when it reaches the appropriate pressure.
Ah, I see. I saw that as well and kind of figured that’s what you may have read.
I figured he was, be hard to call it “worlds first miniature 4.5kpsi compressor” if you only made it in 3000psi. 😆
It was on a wall post of his, but as I read more carefully, the question he was replying to is, can one unit convert back and forth between 3k and 4.5K.
He will be making two different models. Here is what he said from the wall post:
You had mentioned in one of the discussion threads that you had though about a version that would be able to be switched between 3k and 4.5k. Is this still in the hopper as an idea?

Too many liability issues with a convertible system. The burst disk is different for each one. That’s the problem. So no it will not be convertible.
Where did you see he wasn’t going to make the 4500psi one anymore? Can’t find that…
But you were right about the cubic inch/foot thing. Oh well. Still a good price. 😀
Not Cubic Foot…68 Cubic Inch in 4 hours.
It will fill a 3000PSI 80 CF tank in 24 hours. He is no longer going to make a 4500 PSI model. He tried, but it wasn’t reliable enough, so now it will just be a 3000 PSI model.

It says it will take about 4 hours to fill a 68cf tank. So a little longer than that.
Still, for that price, I could handle turning it on in another room or the garage for a little while. That’s a pretty awesome machine!
I wonder how long it takes to fill a 88cf carbon fiber tank with that
would be cool if it can hold up. that suckers got to get hot.
Great find. It does look very interesting. $400 is within reach of a lot more people than $2500+. It remains to be seen if it will work well enough for our uses, but it is a very interesting idea.

What ^ said. I wonder how long it would take to go from 2500 to 3K. I’d be willing to slow it way down and let it do its thing overnight. I would think that would greatly improve the life span.
