Q:

Air Fill Tank Question

I need to buy a tank to fill my condor ss when it comes in and cannot get a new 4500 right now. I have a couple options. A new 3300 PSI tank I think its 80 cuft or I seen some used SCBA Tanks 4500 psi from a fire surplus vendor on ebay for $200 they still have service life until 2018. I would also have to pay to get it hydro tested and I suspect a visual inspection. Also can a scuba valve fit on scba tanks. I have a fill hose setup for a scuba tank for the airforce gun already. I also wonder if I should buy a regulator for my condor and maybe that will help with over all conservation of air.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

I bought a couple scba tanks and an adapter scba to din, got a fire buddy who fills them.

Check with a local dive shop if you have one. They might have something used. 4500 psi is where you should go if you can. Of course, Shoebox would be happy to fix you up. Also, you might not be up to it, but I use a hand pump.

great advice i was volunteer ff for several years as well however we always had our scbas filled by a local fire equipment supplier

I would go with a SCBA. I tried the scuba route years ago, and it’s a major pain in the ass! 👿 You will get very few shots with a scuba, and few places will fill beyond 3000 psi in them.

However, is hard to find fills for scba’s in some areas. I ended up joining a local fire dept. as a volunteer I enjoyed it, but it did get me all the free fills i wanted.

Fast forward, I got COPD and had to leave the fire department. But—OldGoat here was good enough to sell me a ShoeBox compressor at a very good price, and Woo-Hoo!!! Happy Days! 😀

Yes, a reg on your gun will give more shots. Especially, GOOD consistent, accurate shots 😉 !
