Thanks Metal. I had forgotten exactly how much it is. 😉

Maybe I’m not thinking right here… but 1 mil is 1 mil, no changing that. 3.6″ @ 100 yards. I’d imagine the dot spacing could very well differ from scope to scope depending on what power & what formula the scope manufacturer recommends for mil-dot rangefinding.
Here’s how Millet does it..

I didn’t mean you want them for looks. What I am trying to tell you that many companies making CHEAP scopes are putting them on there for looks but don’t work for crap. (target turrets) You know. to get sales. Sell a cheap piece of crap for more than it is worth. Tall adjustments don’t make a scope cost more, or preform better. Quality manufacturing does.
If they won’t repeat the adjustment exactly the same each and every time, or return to the same place and put the round on the same point on the target in exactly the same place after repeated adjustment, they will be nothing but frustrating. More than useless! To test them, shoot the box. Set up your target at say 50 yards for you air rifle or 100 for a pb. Shoot a round. click 10 clicks to the right-shoot 10 up shoot 10 left shoot 10 down shoot. Are the bullets in the same hole as when you started, if not, throw in in the trash and get another scope. That is what Target turrets are for. If they don’t do their job, their junk! Period.
1 mill is apx. 3.5 inches at 100 meters is I remember correctly. So if it is a true or real mil dot scope you can range find using this feature. It’s what it was designed for. If they aren’t at a standard spacing, it is useless for what the mil-dot reticle was designed to do. Again. A sales gimmick. Fake in other words. But looks military enough to get sales from the UN expecting and UN educated buyer.
That said. You can use the dots any way you want. BUT They Will Not Mil range find properly if not spaced at the mil’s as specified.

One Scope has mil dots closer together than the other?
If that is the case, one of the Scopes isn’t a Mil-Dot Scope. Period. It may have dot’s, but it isn’t a Mil-DOT.
A Mil-Dot Ret. suspends the dot’s 1 Mil at 100 meters. It may very well be that the two scopes Mil at a different power.
My Zeiss 4.5×16 mil’s at 10x. The 6×24 Zeiss Mil’s at 12x. So the dots would appear to be at different spacings if I didn’t know at what power it mil’s.
Then again, there are a lot of cheap fake mil-dot scopes out there that don’t mil at any power. They just have dot’s on the Ret. and look cool.
Kinda like target turrets that aren’t’ and won’t repeat. All for looks and sales. But useless.
Mike
don’t really under stand what you mean but im sure your correct in some way but as for the sniper turrets they are not just for looks and sales i will be using them for different rangers as i will be doing with my retical as my mate dose the some and its very affective

thanks i so forgot to take a pic last nite.
O.k., here’s a pic of the AF reticle with the scope at at 4x magnification. It’s slightly out of focus (I’ve never tried to a take a picture through a scope before), but you can see the reticle reasonably well.
Swanky, I just looked through my Millet, and my Nikko Nighteater scopes. Actually, the lines are about the same thickness, and the Millet mildots are slightly father apart than the Nikko, but the Nikko doesn’t have the small lines in between the mildots like the Millet does, and this is what I like about the Millet. In case you missed it, here’s a pic of the Millet reticle. This isn’t a very clear pic of it, the reticle is much more crisp and distinct in real life. The lines between the mildots don’t show very well, but you can barely see them here
