Air Valve/Regulator Housing Over All Length
Hey guys, anybody that has got a new R3 22 or 25, standard or long version and are or will be adjusting the regulator, I would like you to do me a favor.
Please measure your air valve/regulator housing’s overall length and post it here! I have an extra complete air valve/regulator assembly for a 22 standard and I wanted one for the 25 cal also. Tony included this air valve/reg assembly in the very well packed box that also included my R3 25 standard that I got today.
Please disregard the claw marks on my spare 22 reg! The reg housing was screwed on really tight, I had it chucked up in my vice and I had a thin sheet of leather wrapped around the front of the reg housing. My Channel Locks bit through the leather and marred the housing.
The new 25 housing measures 146.85mm or 5.77” long, the same as my 22. The end of the reg is marked 130 bar. I thought that I knew that the 25s needed a longer regulated air space, between the reg and air valve, to be able to shoot the heavier 25 pellets at 880 or more. My 25 regs were marked 150 bar. I thought that my 25 air valve/regs were around 1 ½” longer than the 22s. The new air valve might have changed everything that I thought that I knew!
Unfortunately, I don’t have the OL measurements for any of my 25s and I have only shot my new R3 25 standard once, just to see if it would shoot. I hope to find the time to chrony if this weekend and then go from there. I am assuming that it will shoot in the 950-980 range and I will have to tune it. If so, I will have the measurements for a R3 25 standard’s air valve/reg housing.
To you guys that are going to pull the reg; please help me out! I am asking for the over all length of the housing, the caliber, whether it is a standard or long, and what bar it is marked as. This could be interesting!

146,5 but I may be off by 0,1 in minus, if so. It’s hard to hold the calipers when extended to almost maximum. Mine definitely does not have 146,8.
BTW, it’s a brand new R3 .25 long.

The extra reg that Tony sent me is 146.8 mm long and lock screw on the reg adjusting screw uses a hex wrench, my older Matadors all used a slotted lock screw.
IF any more of you guys pull the reg, please post the regulator body OA length here.

It is 146.8 mm for my new .25, long. There is no label/mark on pressure. My old .22 standard was marked 135 (bar). The screw (hex screw) in the socket of new regulator for pressure adjustment is different from my old .22 standard, which is a slotted type.

Having benefited greatly from your matador wisdom there was nothing else I could do but take my matador apart and contribute.
I might not have the “newest” R3 as I have the old bolt/breech and mine is “made in Russia”

Mine came with a slotted lock screw but under the lock screw uses an allen head to adjust the regulator. I marked it to see where I started since it was not marked at all with any preset numbers like I see everyone else has.
