Q:

Airforce Airguns vs. FX Airguns

Hi… I’m really new to the airgun world, and I bought myself a talon SS and sent it over to Tony for a bunch of things. Since the wait is killing me (7 weeks now!), I stumbled upon the FX rifles. My question is, any of you guys that have FX rifles, which is a more accurate, quiet, and FUN rifle? Can you explain. I know that there is a BIG price difference, but besides that, is the FX worth it?

Thanks for the response!

Drew

Sirjeo,

Just wondering have you ever picked one up? I was in to them till I saw one in the flesh,
too heavy, shite trigger, not as powerfull, and did not generally like the feel/design/fit.

Anyway thats just me 🙄

All the best

sorry to include this, but I’m very impressed with the Logun s16!

Hey zombie, is it possible to shoot the gun with only the extension cylinder attached?

Yes it is, just screw the quick fill piece on one end and the other end into the part that threads into the receiver.

This was the pic that sold me on buying the Typhoon.

Hey zombie, is it possible to shoot the gun with only the extension cylinder attached?

I have wanted to buy a gladi8or as long as I’ve known about the things. I think they are awesome airguns. I just can never talk myself into dishing out that kind of cash for one.

If someone wanted to donate me one that would be awesome. 😛

After a lengthy bit of research, I purchased a Typhoon synthetic in .177 from Straight Shooters, which is used as my field target rig. I think it’s been a great value for money I spent.

Like the Airforce guns, the synthetic stock makes for a very lightweight rifle, almost too light to be a great FT gun. Like my Condor, it also has a Lothar-Walther barrel. However, the FX barrel is shrouded and muzzle report is reduced to the point where all you hear is a loud “PING” or “DINK” from the hammer striking the valve open. It’s kind of a wierd noise actually…

It has a bolt action cocking action with safety mode if left in the open position, there is no safety lever or button. The action is easy to use, very smooth and has a large, round bolt handle. It has a superb, match-quality, 2-stage adjustable trigger. The entire rifle is made out of aluminum, all of the parts are matte and anodized, the air cylinder is removable. With the extra 45cc extension, this rifle will deliver 60 shots at an avg of 927fps using Crosman heavies.

I really dig the gun, and plan on giving it a new scope this fall.

The coolest FX airgun isn’t even out yet….That’s the semi auto Microburst-3. I think this one will be worth the wait.

the talon will be worth the down time

Thanks Cygnus!

That was very helpful and informing… Hmmm… I’m just itching to get a rifle because my Talon from Tony has not arrived yet! I’m dying of anticipation! Maybe I should just wait for my talon and go from there! Cheaper alternative! (to buying a gun and then my talon arrives!)

Thanks again,

Drewll

FX rifles are great rifles…

Monsoon and revo…the fun of semi quickly runs out when you get tired of the pinging sound they make when ever you take a shot, ruining the silence

also once your realize that one shot is all it takes…semi gets old real fast, and not worth it imho

but they do alot of variations on them, and they are great rifles, very accurate, lots of shots in most of them different tanks to choose from and user exchangeable…

but distributed by AOA, which means of something is wrong they are gonna start with blaming YOU….and then they will tell you to try fix it with various home remidies…like food wrapper and such instead of teflong tape…or even hears they said to use clear plastic food wrap as an oring…once all the fails…they wont honor your warrenty as you messed with the rifle your self. if they do honer the warrenty be prepared to be with out a rifle anywhere from 1-6+ months ! and yes they are gonna charge you shipping both ways.

instead of an FX, pick an airarms 410…choose between carbine, classic, and ERB (short, medium, long) same power as fx, same accuracy as fx, better shroud than fx, better finish than fx, the walnut is gorgous, beech is nice, and best of all, all big airgun retailers carry it…most of them at same price, so you just pick the dealer you like the best (starightshooters are awesome, personal service, quick reponse to email and phonecalls they will take good care of you !)

if i was in denmark i wouldnt think twice about buying an FX, frederich inventor and maker is in sweeden, it is easy to get parts, and he will help you out…but here in the states he left it to the worst airgun store possible, AOA is all about monopoly so they can set the prices artificialy high

in denmark you can buy a monsoon for about 1300$ same as here in the states…but mind you in denmark theres 25% sales tax on top of what the store makes on selling them…theres is not salestax in an online buy here in the US….guess who’s got huge profit margins…but as long as people want a product they will be in business….look at BSA, ever been expensive guns, more of an middle priced gun….now you can hardly find them in stores and AOA is the only place to go….sure AOA say they are not monopolising the market…there are other dealers that sell fx and bsa as well…but look at the price…exactly the same as AOA….cause guess who supplies the, and who sets the price !

I love the FX range, over here we do not have the same distribution problems that you lads have over there.

The one that I am trying to convince myself NOT(cause I really dont need it) to buy is a FX Cutlas in Walnut, If I had of seen it before I got the Condor, I would have bought it.

eamonn 😀

Before I got my TSS I shot a couple of clips with my freinds Monsoon. The word that came to my mind very quickly was… SWEET. Accurate, quiet, good power, nice trigger, good looking, looked well made… and to much money… I ended up buying his mint TSS for a fraction of the Monsoon price.

FX rifles are nice and accurate. The problem many talk about is that Airguns of Arizona are the sole distributors and raised the price on all FX guns dramatically and since they do the warranty work many have run into problems getting their guns fixed.
