airforce micormeter tank?
Does “micrometer” mean that this is a regulated tank, and if so, is the description of 100 shots at 600 fps accurate???? Anyone have one?

SS… I’ve read varying reports on starting points, but yes… the tophat adjustment is roughly the same as on a Condor. I prefer to fill to around 2800 and then go for max power on the first shot, knowing then that I can fill to 2900 or even 3000psi and get a nice bell curve going.
I dont know what mine is currently set at as it has shipped off for a project…. 8)
80…. a regulated Talon…. kind of a pipe dream it would seem…. That and multishot gets folks attention, but no one seems to have come up with one to market.

Rob is adjusting the top hat on a talon tank the same as on a condor tank? Where was yours set at? I know you had special parts but was curious. I know most suggest .070 as a starting point for the hi-flo, what do the majority suggest as a starting point on a talon bottle?

but I can tell you that when I had a .177 barrel on my Talon, I was getting well over 80 shots on a fill at 14fpe by using a restrictive valve spring retainer from TalonTunes. Much cheaper option than a multimeter tank. Near the same amount of shots, but at a significantly higher velocity.
With the same gun with a .22 12 inch barrel, I am nice results as well…

…..and while I was at it, I decided to tinker a bit on the Talon as I noticed that it wasn’t as consistent as I’d like. A bit of tinkering with the Tophat and I filled to 205 Bar. After about 6 shots in the 680-700fps range, my shots bumped up to 715…. Then up to 730 by shot number 20…. Then at shot number 50, I was back at 715. I’ll have to admit that I was quite bummed by this. Not because the shots were erratic; they were not…. There was a very, very tight shot to shot deviation throughout the curve, but I figured for a large bottle, I should get more than 55 shots on a fill, especially at a rather neutered 16fpe.
I went to fill the gun again and found that I was only down to 175 bar. 30 bar for those 55 shots, not counting the 6 soft shots. 72 pumps later from the FX 4 Stage pump and I was back to 205 bar… well, just about a needle width below that to compensate for the soft shots. Felt much better at that point about my shot count and was quite elated to find that my Talon was being so sparing with air. I have a restrictive spring retainer in this from Tony at http://www.talontunes.com and it no doubt has helped.
I got to thinking that I should be able to bump up the preload by the Power Wheel to get more shots at the end of my 55 shot string… so I started shooting…. by shot number 56, I was at 709fps. I turned the power wheel from 4-8 to 6-2. My velocity rose to 732fps. 40 shots later, I was back down to 710fps. I bumped up the power wheel to 9-0 and my first shot chronied at 729fps. 15 shots later, I was at 707fps. Of course when I went to fill, I was at around 115 bar and so I got out the carbon fiber tank, as I didn’t want to manually pump up that much.
So the end result is that I know I can either shoot 50 very consistent shots at 16fpe and have an easy time filling the run, of if I need to, I get get over 100 shots on a fill by adjusting the power wheel after 55 and then 40 shots. While I am quite happy with this arrangement, I would love to see more shots out of the Talon. I no doubt would be able to see many more shots out of it with a longer barrel at those power levels, but I like the compactness of the 12 inch barrel….and it’s very quiet thanks to a Fishbone insert by YN.
it’s not regulated, it has a restricted flow which gives the extra shots

all is well on my side of things, just getting busy as hell is all which I will never complain about 😛
… and as rob was saying, I think the tony tune restricter is a better choice.
