Is it wrong in america to do an air gun review and expose the flaws in a product??? I’ve seen numerous air gun reviews posted on various blogs/forums. and its Usually the same story…. polish it up and tell u how good this is and how good that is….
Lets face it every gun has there Flaws…. weather you have an FX , edgun, cricket etc the list goes on… they all have problems… Gotta give wingman a lot of credit though.. he’s done a fine job. think they should all go something like that, meaning exposing certain flaws and such.
Sometimes it nice to know what your getting into.

Quite frankly I could’t give two shits if its wrong in America or any other country for that matter.. If I am asked to do a review or decide to do a review on my own accord, it will be honest and unbiased.. If I am offered money to review something I will decline, I am not an advertising service, I do these reviews as Ride says “part of my hobby” without pay or reward, I owe nothing to any company and none of them own me. I have been contacted by many companies, websites and magazines world round who offer me payment to use my reviews etc but my answer will always be the same.. take it… I put it there for the world to see so your actually working for me

I review items by a few rules of my own though and only take others reviews seriously if they follow similar morals and guidelines..
Heres how I roll: 😎
*Is the product worth reviewing? (would I own one?) If not, I will not write one, I do not bad mouth companies no matter how bad they are, eventually they will shoot themselves in the foot if their products are rubbish or they fail sort the issues out, it is hard enough to make a living in this world without people bad mouthing something they often know little about. 🙄
*I do not point out a problem without finding out why it is a problem and do my best to provide a simple fix or suggest to the manufacturers that it needs addressing.
At least the ball is in their court and they are then aware of an issue.
*Keep it positive. There’s enough negativity in this world without me adding to it.. if something is really bad address it don’t bash it because there are thousands of sheep out there that are only to keen follow the crowd and jump on a hate wagon and quote every word they have read without ever even holding the item and making their own judgement. :angrymob:
Light hearted jokes and general humour should be a part of every good review. Reviews should make you smile and you should be able to walk away with a feeling that you know a new product intimately without even having seen one in the flesh.. 😀
*I speak from an technical background and if I am speaking from personal opinion or personal preference/taste I will say so.
I have a lot of respect for people like Ed who are the face of their company but still find the time to face the ridiculing public slander that forums often bring with a goal of helping their customers at ground level. Well done to those that wade through the shit and continue this service.
It great to have another forum that supports free speech and doesn’t censor delete or block everything that the Nazi keyboard gods/moderators don’t agree with or make their personal favourite products smell like roses..
To those of you who have shown me your appreciation of the thousands of hours and my own dollars I put into bringing you these reviews, I always appreciate your comments and emails but could never respond to you all personally, but I truly thank you and take a bow…Thanks also to those that ask questions and keep me on my toes.. I dont always get it right.. I too am only human..

Dman’s point is well taken,
lets just say it right here !!! there are reviewers out there that are obviously getting paid or compensated for their efforts but operate under the guise of unbiasedness. It is good for business and good for the big OEM’s that make and sell air guns and there is no rules against it. When a guy gets stellar results from everything he touches but can only and consistently find trivial things that would not slow sales but add credibility to the reviewer then there is a little payolla in the wood pile somewhere. It is just not realistic that reviews go swimmingly every time. All you have to do is stop and think about it. !! Companies would not continue to provide review guns if there were ever bad reportings, Period !! as Obama says. :whistle: I have 6 PCP air guns and at least half of them had more negative to report than a typical reviewer ever divulges so I have drawn my own conclusion this subject long ago. None of the problems and been huge in my assessment and all issues are eventually resolvable. I consider it part of the hobby. Unless it is gross negligence I just prefer to deal with issues in a non public manor. I appreciate the offerings of some small companies like Ed’s for example that support this hobby and just simply prefer to also support their efforts by not bashing. They are in a tricky business where volumes are low but expectations are very high. The public is getting more and more demanding all the time and some of it is understanding and some is just the entitlement society creeping in.

Edit: I came back to give WingmanNZ the credit he is due, for a fantastic and seemingly honest review of the P12 the good with the bad.
Not at all.if one experiences flaws please point out. However if I were to do a review of both my Eds after as many shots as I have run trough them on all original parts without a single issue people would think I drank the Kool-aid.
I know others have had issues, I have not. Luck and routine maintanance have resulted in two superbly accurate and reliable guns. Weekly I pull them out and take a single cold first shot to a swinging golf ball target at 120 yds. It keeps my wind reading skills and long range skills intact. Hits are in the low 80% range and misses are pretty much all clustered around golf ball and can be covered by the diameter of a large tin of JSB pellets. I’m pretty happy with that considering wind varies from 1-15mph and temps from 110* to -17(last week). Both the Eds and Hawke scopes continue to impress.
