Q:

Alatros Regulator

I’m debating on getting a regulator for my Condor SS .22 cal. I’m looking at the Alatros regulator. What benifits am I gonna gain with this? Will it improve my groups. I’m new to the PCP guns, any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I’m glad I ordered mine.

I will get to finish setting it up this weekend.

Thanks Salt, thought about that the other day too. Seems every step involves more parts! and more parts! then yeap more parts! lol

Thanks for the info Dyotat, did not realize they were different sizes. will have to look at that if I go down the regged path with a hp tank.

I now have the original, a spare just like it and the cf tank. plenty of parts to play with and plenty of air to shoot low power shots if needed. will see what happens when I get home and put things together.

A 4500 psi reg from JDS is 5/8-18 and only works in paintball tanks.

Unless he is changing out the burst disc on a 18mm one. I have both at home

If your looking for low or mid range power 30-45 fpe in 22 then a reg is a good way to get very consistant shooting. I have a JDS reg also and can get 45 shots in a 11 fps window for some stupid accuracy. I have looked long and hard at the alteros regs also.

I am looking at putting the reg on the carbon fiber tank also just for feel to see if I will order a 2nd one for my reg set up. Me thinks the shorter tank with the reg setup will be a nice little rig with a ton of shots.

make sure you get the 4500 reg from JDS, if your going to use the CF bottle past 3kpsi, i got 4500 psi regs for my arizona guns so i can fill to 3600-3700 psi

Sgt,

No CO2 adapter, just the Altaros and TTTA.

The LOP increases by 4″, which is quite a bit. This works for me because I’m kind of big. The problem is that the Condor has become kind of hard to share due to the excessive LOP.

I’ve just ordered one of Tony’s carbon fiber tanks. This will shrink the LOP by 1.25″ (ref: TalonTunes web site).

Did you have to use the CO2 adapter or just the TTTA and the Alteros?

How much LOP did you gain?

Barens,

I have a .22 Condor SS. I’m using an Altaros set at 1850 psi coupled to a Talon Tunes Tank Adapter. This combination has some interesting characteristics:

First a rather long length of pull, which is just fine for me, but difficult for persons of a more normal stature.

Second the TTTA adds regulated air volume (volume between the regulator and the valve). Dyotat has often commented that the right regulated air volume will create the best compromise between power and air efficiency. See his numerous posts on the topic.

I have no idea if the added volume from the TTTA is optimal, but the gun shoots with very good consistency, plus of minus a few feet per second, with reasonable air consumption.

Here’s a photo showing the, ahem, LOP enhancement.

I have a regulator from JDSairman.com, my condor is a bench rest rifle so I’m all about grouos and consistence, from 3k-2k psi I get 70ish shots reg@1600psi, hole in hole shoots to 50 yards, if I want to go farther than 50 I just change out TH inserts then i group 1″-1.5″ at 75-85 yards. Best mod other than the Tony Mod I’ve done to this Condor.
