another bird has landed in my nest!
I have been looking for a tank for the longest time and I always wanted a mad dog stock but I never could bring myself to spend a 1/4 of a thousand dollars for one so after fattening up my paypal account with the sale of my FX 400 and a liberty compound bow I could not resist the great price I got on this talon SS .22 with mad dog stock.
Now I’m thinking the Don T. side cocking frame should become a .257 with Doug’s magic touch! I will most likely be selling some parts soon so in the meantime if anyone is interested buying an SS Frame with the trigger group…pm me and we can talk.
I have to admit the mad dog stock is very nice. It is all they have said it is. I will be drilling out another hole for two points of contact beneath the frame. Why they didn’t do this is a mystery?

That mad dog stock has already begun it’s face lift. This morning I drilled another hole for three points of contact instead of two…I sanded it down and gave it three coats of black texture. In a few days, or week, I am going to tape it off in sections and give it a two tone textured paint job: Black and desert Tan. I have a morgan butt pad for it as well.
If I have time before the family arrives for turkey I am going to remove the safety from my AAA .25. I have been meaning to do it, but I never felt like taking it apart so know that it is apart..it is time.

This was a project frame from Don Thompson. He did it many years ago. It was a one off type deal but I will send him your contact info….

Doing the laser test against the scope reticle, I could not move it twisting it as hard as I could with my hands.
Now that side cocker in that maddog stock and a very long 257 barrel and Doug’s valve and bits would be tits.

Although I would love the mad dog stock on this one…I think it would be overkill with all the “rigid” improvements of this frame. I am going to go with a WOK gaurd on this one and I am getting a 53ci tank from Doug and that with the canted E tac would not work with the MD stock. The MD will be on my TT .25.

Don’t know yet. I only had a .177 12″ barrel for it (not exactly a long range setup), however, This is the frame that will be going to Doug for him to build a .257 long barrel! I’ll let you know when the time comes.
nice ,i like the look of that frame,how much has it improved frame flex.
I was thinking the same thing. Adding a second bolt forward of the factory location. Should do just that little bit more to stiffen a already much improved platform. 😉

Yes, you can see where I added the second bolt on my .25 condor stock above the .22 mad dog. I will most likely put this stock on the .25 and I might go for an 18″ barrel in .25 to shorten it a bit….

Charlie turned me on to Rustoleum textured. It comes in many colors. What I like best about it is how smooth it sprays. It is even throughout the entire contents of the can. Almost as if your using a professional spray gun.
It is pretty durable as well. It dries matte , but on one occasion I sprayed a gloss clear over it and it still had a nice textured feel.
I’ll post pics when it’s done.
The paint on the stock in the middle is dupont trunk liner. That stuff is pretty good as well. It is thicker than the rustoleum. It comes in speckle black or speckle grey. Basically black and grey and grey and white. I cleared that with semi gloss.
