Another NEWBIE signing on………
Hello to all,
Finally “pulled the trigger ” yesterday , called AirgunsOfArizona…ordered a stage 4 pump and TalonSS .. I just got tired of wanting one..got back into airguns Nov.16 of last year, after a 45-50 year hiatus…Bought many AG since then, sold most cause they were not as advertised. Currently have 3 Crosmans, 1 pumper pistol, 1 CO2 pistol, and 1 custom Mountain Air 2250B carbine that I’m converting to HPA..Should have my TalonSS on Wednesday, and I am pumped about finally getting one…have thought about it for way too long…time for action!! Brutuz from another forum sent me this link….glad to be here…-Rodger

Yeah, 4500psi is moot. My dive shop’s bank of storage tanks are filled to 5000psi. So even if they would fill a 4500 they can’t for very long 🙂
The smarter move is to match your air usage and pressure for the type of shooting you’ll do. If I plink at 1500psi->700psi then I get 70 fills at 100 rounds a fill. That’s 7000 rounds for a single 3500psi 100cuft Scuba at just $6.
I think a better investment is to buy a second AF tank. Learn which tank works best for high vs low and then put some green or red tape on them for plinking vs hunting. Keep you hunting/pest removal tank on standby and plink and target practice with your low pressure tank. You can always fill both to full hunting pressure and have more shooting fun in the field.
Checkout the AF Protective cap for transport (not storage) of your spare AF tank… http://www.pyramydair.com/s/a/AirForce_protective_steel_valve_cap/924

Thanks for the link afriend told me about it this morning..went to dive shop and ordered anew 100 cuft tank..those 4500 tanks are a “wee bit expensive” for me, but local shop told me they don’t do 4500 psi, so it’s a moot point….I have 3 other air guns, a pumper, a CO@, and anHPA with a 13 cu in tank that I can fill with the FX super turbo pump I just got, so Talon won’t be getting the work out all the time like it did today..ran 200 pellets through it..I br diggin’ the Talon..it’s got “high-techness” 😀
Checkout the AirHog calculator to see how many fills you’ll get out of your gun. I fill my AF tank to 2600psi and refill at 1500psi for 50 powerful hunting shots (TSS 177).

For example; throw in these numbers for s 100cuft 3500psi steel tank:
- 100 cuft
3500 psi
2600 psi
490 cc
1500 psi
So it begins 😀 What were your chronograph numbers? Whch pellets are you using? I like the Crosman Premier domed hollow points. Is it quiet enough for you? If not there are tricks for accomplishing that task listed in a sticky…but you have probably already found that.
Save up and buy a 4500psi tank…way more fills and it costs the same to get filled. BE SURE THAT YOUR DIVE STORE WILL FILL IT TO THAT PRESSURE.
Have fun 😀
Welcome! The TSS is a fun gun to shoot. Keep on the look out for quality pre-owned steel scuba tanks at you local dive shop. You won’t be disappointed when you make the switch from pumping!
You’ll shoot your eye out….
Have fun …and welcome to the maylay…

I just now(yes, it’s early) shot my newTSS for the FIRST time!! UPS delivered it LATE yesterdya…like at dark, so I got up ,turned on the chrony and let ‘er rip. I’m a bachelor, with a 10 meter range, with targets, and a trap, setup in my kitchen- to -dining room area…makes it OK if I wanna shoot in my house 🙂 🙂 This gun is just wicked…Brutuz said pullint the trigger on a Talon was___________________ (fill in the blank after you’ve shot one!! )NOW I understand, SO, I already have the scope dialed in..but for 10 meters. Soon as I get some daylight I’ll get it done for say 35 yards..Oughta be about right for me…Man! what a gun 😎 😎 😎 😎
Excellent Packrat!!! A 2250 on HPA, just too cool. 😀
Thanks to all for welcome…Stevein La..I have a CR2250 on HPA that does about those same numbers with 18gr jumbo express…it too, has power to weight ratio that is just sooo much better,,plus I like the looks of TalonSS, Daystate ,the CRosman2250, and a few others..NONE have the”reputation” like the condor/talon/talonss…they just have “that something” glad I’m on board !
Welcome! You are so on the dark side now dude!!!
Hi Packtat, I fell in love with the power to weight ratio of the TSS…800-830fps at just 5lbs with the weight being the back. The spring guns that come close to this all weigh 8-10lbs. Too much for me. The accuracy with the LW bbl is great! While you bought it for the right reason, just because, you should be forewarned that there are many others that you might purchase on your journey to the dark side. If you have been looking through the “other guns” section, you have seen the best of the best…$1000 to $3000+. We all have said no way! Just to buy one a few months later. They are just so cool! It’s probably too late for you now. You are already on your way! 😀 Enjoy the journey and know that there are many people here who will help you in many ways. Yes, this forum is a little irreverent, but there is a ton of good info here and people to help you understand and implement it.
I got the .22 caliber..I own some land in the country, so I have a 25 yard range and a 45 yard range, complete with cinder blocks and 1/2 inch plywood 4′ x 8′ sheets for backstop. I welded up a big steel swinging targets stand, plus I have a set of swinging silhouette targets and a set of spinners welded up in a stand…the main reason I got this gun is just cause it’s so cool looking 😀 I’ll use it for tree-rat control, but I’ve got other guns already for that..got a sweet 2250B from Mountain Air that I’ve modified even more that it was already…can do 20 shot strings averaging 644 fps with 14.3 crosman hollow points (on CO2)..it handles squirrel duties rather well,,,,I just got the Talon because they are “outside the norm”, have a cool look-==as does the 2250 B…but mainly….JUST BECAUSE 😎 😎 😎
Welcome to the darkside 😀 You are going to love your TSS! Do you have a specific use in mind? Which caliber did you select?
Good choice your going to love it!
