any guesses on why accuracy decreased on bsa scorpion…
bull barrel rifle after I took off my nikon 3×9 scope and put on my leupold m4 10x. My groups went from consistent 1/2″ @ 40 yards to 1″ @ 40 yards.
The start pressure recommended for this rifle is 3250 psi. When I shot the 1/2″ groups I had a start pressure of 3,000 psi. After I put the m4 scope on my fill pressure in my scuba tank was around 2850.
I can’t imagine this lower starting pressure would be the culprit as I have shot tight groups with this rifle before from 3,000 psi down to around 2,000 psi.
I appeal to any masters out there for advice as I am sure you can understand my disappointment in a 1,200.00 scope being outperformed by a 150.00 scope (if that is the case)
The only other thing I can think of is that I did gently insert a laser bore sight in the barrel, not forced….
I was hoping to receive some input before I test it by putting the Nikon scope back on. Thanks.

And keep those damed bore sighter’s away from your muzzle. 👿 I have seen more than on guns accuracy ruined by them. Avoid them like the plague on anything of target -match quality! They are fine for Jo-Blow buying a deer beater down at Wally World. Not a fine Gun!

Double check to make sure the breech oring (if it has one) is in there
and not on the probe. There are also orings in the shroud that
sometimes get screwed up. If one of those has gotten cattywampus
it would throw off the accuracy…I feel for ya man I hate having
accuracy issues….
Or…I had a Leupold Leupold Mark 4 Long Range/Tactical Riflescope, a $2500.00 scope, that I couldn’t zero in one season, but prior to that season there were no issues, contacted Leupold, sent it directly to them, turned out to be an issue with the reticle.

Hey Zombie, If memory serves me right, I believe you gave me the heads up on that trigger cycle while I was waiting for mine to arrive. I make sure to squeeze it all the way back…its a great way to follow through as well.
I will start with a parallex test, and if that does not change things, I will switch back to the 3×9 Nikon that gave me such great results before I put the Leupold on. I will post my findings, thanks for all the help guys.
I can tell you exactly why Robert is getting some of these guns sent back. The bolt does not cycle the magazine, the trigger does. This is a real sticking point for some people.
After the trigger engages the sear and discharges the round, it has a tiny bit of travel past that point to activate the spring release mechanism on the clip to cycle the next pellet.
For the unitiated, this action can be very weird, and lead one to believe that the mag is not cycling properly. As long as you remember to squeeze all the way through, it’s not a big deal. I just go by the audible “click” when the mag cycles and all is well.
My experience with the accuracy of the T-10 rifle version has been more than satisfactory, however I’ve recorded a 100 fps drop between the 1st and 30th shot, and another – 100 fps by the 40th shot. Granted this was from a hand pump, and I haven’t tried duplicating these results filling off the CF tank. It’s still noteworthy, and that also may be contributing to your POI issues.
My guess is parallax error. Might try a group a little beyond 50 and see what happens.
If it shoots fine then it is the Leupy or YOU. 😛

I belive it is 50 to infinity, but I am not certain. I will check it when I get home from work. I think that all the leupold varIII m1 to m4 were the same type of parallex, but I could be mistaken.
I am shooting from bags, I will check the movement while supporting next time I shoot it. I will post findings.

1. I am guessing that the objective is clearing the barrel with plenty room?
2. Turrets are locked?
3. Have you looked at the parallax movement or
lack there of, with the rifle supported on it’s own? Can’t really see
the movement if your holding it.
4. Oh and I don’t understand how you can shoot at 40yds if it is a 50yd
to infinity scope..Seems parallax would be out by at least 10 yds…
Could mean 1/2″.
5. Have you shot the gun completely supported by
sand bags or gun rest?

Wok, it is not me, I am a well disciplined shooter…educated on Paris Island and beyond. Honestly, I wish it was me, it would be much easier to solve the problem that way. Different day shooting, same conditions, same pellets (jsb exact jumbo Heavies)
Did you put the original scope back on and test it again? If it is still off, then it is the gun.
If it is dead on then it is the Leupy scope.
That will give you a starting point.

Exactly!!! I went through the same trouble with mine. After getting that and a couple bugs worked out it was the most accurate rifle I’ve ever had. I did sell it recently, it was a full size bullbarrel. I’d like to try the carbine Scorpion, I like a short gun, now my go to gun is my Talon SS with Blodnob/Selph valve. May get an EDgun next, he,he,he!!!
