Q:

Anyone in Hawaii able to help tune my tophat?

Specifically, Oahu HI… I have an older, circa-2002 Talon SS. I suspect the gun is not putting out the velocities it should be; and is not as consistent as it should be. I’m looking for someone who has a chrony and knows how to tune the tophat/power adjuster for best efficiency and moderate power. I know there are Talon/Condor enthusiasts on Oahu, anyone willing to help? I’d pay for your time, of course. Thanks in advance.

Hey, you could let a pack of hogs loose in Walt’s area. That way he could have some fun and get right back to work. Other than shooting wild hogs, the only thing I remember him enjoying was his smashed thumb. Or was that a complaint ❓

Walt in Hawaii gave me a call this morning and insists on not taking any payment for a tune-up and adjustment of my TSS… What a friendly, down-to-Earth guy, not to mention knowledgable and talented from seeing some of his work on this forum.

Did Walt ever happen to mention anything about his preference for:
pellets?
drinks?
anything I can give him in lieu of cash for his time?

Thanks guys, this forum and its previous incarnations have been a great resource!

I think hes done with it, just waiting on my barrel which is 11 weeks out.

Walt is a good guy, but he is very busy now. Try sending him message, he is making me a one piece stem/tophat.

damn! hes still working on the “one piece for assman”? must be busy. i hope he frees up soon, i PM’d him bout a month ago about some sort of high air flow replacement for the valve face/stem/tophat. i dont know any details, but it sounds promising…

get in touch with walt_in_hawaii, you can p/m him here http://talonairgun.com/forum/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=766 or dirty FUCKING harry, you can p/m him here http://talonairgun.com/forum/privmsg.php?mode=post&u=27

both are great guys, Bring some good beer with you and I’m sure either one will be more the willing to help you get things adjusted up as well as leave you with a working knowledge of your gun DFH will most likely make sure your dunk as shit so you may want to bring a sleeping bag 😉

Tony mods the o-ring slot to accomidate a 90 duometer o-ring for improved sealing. Divers silicon on breech and Polish the thin part of the barrel also improve performance.

Sounds exactly like the kind of person I need to talk to! Thank you for the recommendation, guys. I might be (voluntarily) spending more than I planned to, if he makes custom parts.

My O-rings are good, they’ve been replaced. I think one of the problems is that I needed to replace a few parts in the spring/spacer/hammer group. It seems to have thrown something off.

Happy shooting

I just found him. Its walt_in_hawii. He’s in honalulu (sp). Dont know if this helps but I know he’s a tinkerer.

I know there is a member in HI. He’s got postings in the mods section. Search for threaded frames. He mods the inner frame for a screw in shroud. I’m sure he could help you. I just can’t remember his name. In the mean time, you could always send your rig to Tony. And replace the valve for a condor valve. The orings in your breech are probably shot too.
