Anyone know what these two parts are for on a disco valve??

1) o-ring (18E 2) retaining collar(18C)

I have built a few pcp’s with disco valves and have never used either of those two pieces. I was wondering if anyone knows there purpose???? Thanks.

JOe…with the Crosman stuff, anytime you see an assembly on the parts diagram thatis “boxed ” and then each part numbered, if you order the MAIN part, in this case valve assy, it means you’ll get the entire thing, assembled and ready for installation
As far as like the end cap you mentioned and o-ring..they do it that way so that you only have to order exactly the part you need..There ARE folks that would put on a new end cap and NOT install new o-ring.. so they don’t have to buy one 😀

Okay, so it’s already in the valve body…I will look at it when I get home from work. Since Crosman always sells each part individually, I did not imagine they would sell me a valve body with “included” parts. They don’t even give you an O ring when you buy a disco fill cap.

It is not separate and if you look at the end of your Disco valve body you will see that it is set into the valve body.
Staked in place means they run a crimp to kinda rivet it where it needs to be.

From the look of the diagram…it appears the retainer goes on the outside of the valve body??? So are you saying it is meant to go on the inside of the valve body? If so it would shorten the length of the stem protruding out of the valve body. I suppose in that position it would add more stroke to the hammer (if it even goes there).

So your consensus then is that it is not needed, correct? It’s hard to imagine any air escaping around the stem, but what do I know, my education with these things is ongoing and I thank you for your guidance as always 😉

Someone was advising Crosman when they made the Disco and that ‘expert’ believed they should seal the stem from air leakage. IMO a dumb idea and a wasted effort. The retainer is staked in place in the valve body so it cannot move, so no worries there.

This Discovery was hardly Crosmans idea as there were many PCP conversions on the airgun scene by the time they ventured into it.

18E is an oring that is a stem seal
18C is a ally disc that is staked into place to retain the oring.
