Anyone shoot the 6.5×55 Swedish
If you do and have any reloading tips such as brass and powder and specific bullets that perform well in most guns, please post.

Thanx guys for the GREAT INFO which confirms what i have studied on the net. Just wanna here from some folks that i KNOW won’t shit me around.
My lifelong love has been the .308 Winchester and there is still nothing wrong with the caliber. I am definitely anti magnum. It just pisses me off when the BIG BOYS always say “yeah….i shot a white tail deer at 200 yrds with my 300 WSSM and it blew up all the meat”. Well yeah JACKASS, what would you expect when you can kill deer with an airgun?
Anyway, sorry i got off the point but, i always shop at EABCO.com and they praise their own 6.5 BRM cartridge which is built off of the 30-30 case and then necked down to 6.5mm or .264″. The round just seems to perfect to be true. Something that can be loaded to take some small game then uploaded to take deer and hog at extended ranges. They compare the 140 grain bullets in 6.5 to the .308-190 grain bullets. As far as impact goes because of the B.C. and the Sectional Density. AMAZING.
I shoot that cal in good old military M38 and M96 Swedish Mausers.
nothing finer than lining up on a 500 meter gong and ringing it repeatedly with iron sights beside a guy with a new Weatherby .338 🙂

I was shooting Speer 140 gr Spitzers with IIRC 42 grains of 3031?
I’ll dig out my books …. oh yes and that was using Norma brass as that was all we had back then other than mil Berdan stuff.
Love that caliber and seems naturally accurate.

Essentially the 6.5×55 is equivalent to a .308 case necked to .264
Before I coulld locate reloadable brass I used .308 brass to get by.
rim is a tad small and the neck was short but allowed me to shoot 🙂
