Q:

Anyone tried this gun mounted video camera???

I am thinking of purchasing this gun mount video camera:

http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-5x-videoscope-riflescope-737000v.html

Does anyone have comments?
Has anyone tried out this thing?

Yesterday, Me and another airgunner saw a Great Horned Owl.
I would have liked to have a video of it.
Cant shoot it with the airgun, so the next best is to shoot video of it.

Watched two bluejays dive bomb it for 10 minutes.
It was huge, at least 2 feet high!!.

hay mike, this guy on the yellow had some little 1 inch sport camera of some sorts for sale, I watched the vid he posted with it ad it was defiantly descant quality.
here is a link to his for sale add,

I’m sure it’s just a sports video camera that could be found for less that he is asking for them

Scratch that. I just watched it. Nothing informative there except it doesn’t work well in cold weather.

Well I’ll be. May be a good idea. Would really help to see some video of it in action. I’ll see if I can’t find something.

I dont think its digital mag, but the lens opening looks like its only 1/4 inch in diameter. It cant gather much light.

I did find a review:

“This is the best new item on the hunting horizon! Bushnell has a great hit here, I have shot several animals with the Videoscope camera recording everything. Within 50 yards, the playback is exceptional, beyond that, the image gets small. I will purchase several of these for my kids and father for hunting season.”

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

“This product is a great idea witch I’ve been searching for. Filming my hunts and shooting is a dream now coming reality. The quality isnt as good as a DVcamera, and works poorly with low light. But at normal daytime hunting its giving a ok film. The storage is great and very user friendly. Hope there will be an upgrade with better quality of video and foremost better in low light conditions. But for now a recomended buy.”

VGA is 640×480. The magnification is probably digital rather than optical which leads to a terrible picture IMO. I don’t think I’d give $200 for it. I’d find it on ebay and buy it for $50 maybe.

Thats a cool idea! Easy to build!

Quality is only VGA, but it has 5 X magnification.

Here is how I mounted my camera. I took an old scope mount, turned it upside down, drilled and tapped it for a 1/4″ thread, put a 1/4 all-thread into the mount with two locking nuts and then you just screw your camera on and tighten the lock nut from under it.

Need to see some play back to asertain the quality. If its decent quality video, I’d buy one… 😀

No experience with it, but for 200 bones it might be worth the bet, especially since it’s Bushnell.
