HI Zilog,
I’ve seen that picture before. The MTC is sold here from Airguns of Arizona: http://www.airgunsofarizona.com/ If you scroll down the left side of the page to “scopes/sights”, you’ll find MTC and see the offerings.

I’m going to try something radically different. I’ve ordered this scope from Amazon, and have been in contact with the importer/manufacturer(?). The scope has a CQB reticle, which may be an issue for me. It’s a 3-9×40 from a company called Monstrum. Here’s a link to the Amazon page:
http://www.amazon.com/Monstrum-Tactical-Rangefinder-Adjustable-Objective/dp/B00T17QWE6 I know I’ll have to learn how to use the reticle. I wanted something I could put on the Mutant Short with a low profile, without the cost of the MTC. The company told me I could return it for a full refund. I won’t need to mount it to see if I’ve made a mistake. It arrives tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

I had a play with a MTC viper connect not that long ago and really liked it. Sadly don’t think there planning to officially import them to the US. It was a bit odd in a way as its like Night Vision with your eye really close to the scope. The result was an extremely wide view, you could see so much. It was great for acquiring targets and due to the great wide view and allowed you to run at much higher magnifications so great if you require a bit more zoom to pick out your target. I am afraid I am not describing it to well but really if you do happen to see one that has made it across the pond i would recommend having a look through and I was amazed. This picture probably says it better than i can

thanks Zilog,
I am looking for something very small to sit on my Mutant Short, and the size is right. Barska makes a 1-4×24 with a mil dot reticle, but I need a bit more magnification for vision reasons. 1-6 seems fine, but the reticle, as you wisely point out needs to be more favorable to how I intend to use it.
thanks again,
Darryl

Its a combat reticle designed for rapid shooting at people from a standard NATO survive rifle at close to mid range with out having to stop to calculate drop. There are a few versions of it but for the most part there intended to be used with standard 5.56 NATO and the hash marks represent 100 yard drop out to 600 or 800 yards. Some have ranging indication based on ranging an average adult male human chest dimensions. Its all a bit useless for the job your requiring it to do. Could calculate the drops if you wish so you could use the drop markings but I would probably opt for a different reticle unless your planning on shooting standard 5.56 NATO.
