Q:

AOA Might Be Extreme Bench Rest Shoot

Since John started the donations for me to go to the AOA Extreme Bench Rest shoot this fall; I thought that I would give all of you an update.

I talked to Steve at AOA today and he told me that AOA has one more years lease on the range that the EBR is held on. I told Steve that I had read that the AOA EBR shoot would be moved and that cast bullet shooting guns would be allowed this year.

He said that AOA and the range owner are working on making cast bullet shooting guns legal for this years shoot.

Working on it? 😯

I told Steve that I planned on bringing my 30 cal R3 Matador long and my .257” cal cast bullet shooting R3 long to the shoot. At this point, Steve couldn’t tell me that my .257” R3 long would be allowed to be entered even though (I hope) the gun will shoot my 45-50 grain .257” cast bullets at 850-890fps.

I told Steve that my .257” R3 long wouldn’t have any more FPE energy than a 30 cal FX at 950fps. I just got a long pause without an answer on that.

I did order 5 of the “Official” AOA Extreme Bench Rest targets for $40. 😯

With shipping; the 5 “Official” EBR targets cost me $52.00!

When I get the “Official” targets in, I hope that I can have them duplicated locally for less than $8.00 each!

I thought that the AOA rules stated that you had to score in the top 3 in an air gun competition in the last 2 years to be allowed into the Pro class. Steve told me that I could enter the sportsman’s class or the pro but, I couldn’t register for both. It was up to me.

Until I talked to Steve today, I had Walter Mitty delusions of grander where I would place in the top 3 in the Saturday sportsman’s shoot and then be eligible to shoot Sunday in the Pro class.

Steve told me that I could only shoot in one class. GRRRRR! 👿

By the way, the AOA EBR is November 14, 15, 16.
