Are yall really shooting oiled pellets ?
just wanted to know how many are shooting oiled pellets. i have been shooting dry lead only pellets from day one really-i am really afraid that handling petrol based lubes in and around the breech would assist in the accelerated failure of the breech orings the rear one in particular.i spray the barrels intrior and exterior with rust penetrant which is petrol based -whether to be stored or cleaned and run a dry mop. I clean the petrol off the exterior surface with particular attention paid to the rear bushing back to the breech then slather on the divers seal saver and reinstall the barrel. barrel seems to stay really clean- i havent had any bore fouling issues – in either .177 or .20 == so why oil pellets just taking a poll. thanks ❓

Premiers that come in a box tend to be a little dirty. I wash them with simple green diluted at 50% and then place the near a/c vent to dry. Then I put 150 in an empty tin with with 2 drops of logun PL9 . Slowly rotate for a minute or two and the leave lid off so the excess evaporates. This puts a very light film of lubricant, not even enough to leave mark on fingertips or tissue paper. I kinda adopted this method as a test. I bought a new gun, cleaned barrel with JB and I’ve gone through four boxes of premiers without further cleaning, loss of accuracy or great variations in speed (that werent related to drop in fill pressure). When I finish the fifth box I’m going to clean the barrel and chrono a batch of cleaned & lubed versuse cleaned and dry. My guess is about 20-30 fps faster and much cleaner barrel.

We got a product here called Napier Power Pellet Lube. Some of the UK shooters swear by it, others say its crap, and you don’t need it. Proports to increase pellet velocity and increase accuracy by ‘UP TO’ 50%

I wash my CP’s with dish soap and clean and dry them. I then hit them with squirt of Break Free.
I use oil on Crosman Premiers. I put two or three layers of cut paper towel on the bottom of a old pellet tin. Then I apply enough oil to soak the towels until they are damp but not drippy. I add half a tin of pellets and gently roll them over so that they get a very small amount of oil on them. When I pick a pellet up I can not tell there is any oil on it.
I throw a couple of drops of Slick 50 in each tin of pellets. From what I’ve read, it seems to help with keeping the barrel cleaner.

from what i have seen, seems that a pure lead pellet such as beeman or jsb, is best left alone and shot dry. Lead alloy pellets such as crossman benefit from a light oil as others have said. The harder lead alloy pellets tend to leave more fouling in the barrel, especially if shot at higher velocity.
