Q:

argh! no .25 matador shorts?!

got a reply from tony today that the short mats are not available in .25cal. &%$#@$@!!** son-of-a-bisquit!

guess i’ll have to settle for a “crumby” old .22 short until ed decides to start making them in the larger caliber. 😆

*no, i dont want STANDARD length….gotta be short*

Thank you, I am trying, but due to the limit of time I cannot quite oftern go to forums and talk with people, though want it 🙂

even though theres a language barrier i get the jest of what ed’s saying since it’s very similar to my modified/custom guns of the paintball days. thanks a million for taking the time to visit and post on the forum. pretty rare these days to see that kind of motivation and concern for a product youve created.

long live ED! ….and his merchandise.

It will be quite difficult to have a right speed of .25 pellets with short barrel and proper air consumption. To have it shoot at the normal speed I will need to increase air consumptin that will influence to the accuracy. That is why I don’t want to make the short .25 for now.

220 fill?

I am currently getting 38 regulated shots on my R3 25 standard. It has the new air valve/reg assembly but not the 1 trigger adjusting screw.

It was shooting the 25.4 grain 25 cal JSBs at 940 fps.

I had to turn it down; it is still shooting in the mid 990s, with a respectable spread and max dev. I think that once I have it shooting at 885, I will get around 40-42 regulated shots. I would be very surprised if it could come up with 45 regulated shots at 885.

It is very useable the way it is, I really need to fine tune it but; I have been trying to get my cast bullet projects going in my R3 25 long/Hart .257” barrel and the Boss/Hart .257” barrel.

How many FP shots do you guys see with the Standard .25 and at what velocity? Thanks in advance. I won’t shoot a full string until I get some more shots through it. It seems like many 40 something….

~45 from 200+ to ~100, avg 912-914 FPS

I get 40 shots at 886 fps, cant see how I could improve that.

Regarding a short .25, I too would love one of those.
I use my matador for hunting only and never used more then 5 shots on a hunt so 25 shots from a .25 short would be more then enough for me.

Syn had to cry really hard to get a R3 .177 standard.

😆

And I actually wanted a 177 long, but Ed doesn’t make those either… 😉

When I mentioned that I wanted to use it for field target on a national level and came in tied for 3rd at last years AAFTA Nationals (my first nats) he told me he would put me on the list even though most of the 177’s he makes go to the UK.

I have made all the stuff I need to start using it for field target competitions and hope to bring it into the fold within the next month or so. It’s a sweet little FT rig, well balanced, stable and great for the forced offhand lanes. Saturday will be the first official field target testing session and if all goes well I may use it at the Temecula Challenge FT match next month.

On the first Sunday of May it will be competing in it’s first silhouettes match. I’m looking forward to the change of rifle, I shot 5 perfect score matches in a row with my USFT (with as may perfect reshoot relays). Got kind of boring about three perfect matches in. 😯

faveson, be advised that shooting the matador down past a certain point may cause damage to the valve. Don’t recall what psi but I stay above 100 psi then fill up again. If I come across the posting where Ed warns of shooting gun to low I’ll be sure to post it. It’s always good to review do’s and don’ts from time to time helps keep everyone in tune.

ive noticed ed advertises a rather high shot count for his guns. im wondering if this is max or min power shots being sent downrange until the pressure drops below effective velocities or just until the air reservoir is empty.

i like the hardware store edgun reducer kit mentioned above but think it’d be easier to get the 22 short. no need sicking bubba on a $2K+ toy and a good chance of dicking it up in the process…no sir! 😯

Ace hardware has kits to convert EDgun longs to shorts:

tape measure, hacksaw and duct tape. 😛

Seriously I did it with a Royale 500 and Tofasfou did it with a Rapid, just takes a lathe. And yes you do loose some shots, for me it was no big deal because I am always close to air, just ask my wife. 🙄

Now that’s taking Eds idea of working on your own gun to next level.

I don’t think that you would get 25 useable shots out of a 25 short.

That might be why Ed isn’t going to make any of them.

Ed has posted that he likes the 22 better than the 25.

Us power craving US guys demanded a 25 so; Ed sent us some.

Syn had to cry really hard to get a R3 .177 standard.

I think that you have a WHOLE lot of crying to do to get a 25 short!
