I run straight argon on my heliarc machine, would this work as a propellant? thanks!

Argon is really the wrong sort of gas to use. The very property that makes it a great shield gas when welding (it’s very heavy) works against you. The whole idea of Helium is to be light. Heavy stuff is hard to get going, change direction, stop and stuff. Performance would be lower than with the same pressure of HPA, probably much lower.
And much more expensive.
