I have heard, from a reliable source, that “they” are not executing us gun types…they are re-programming us to carry out their evil deeds and then pull the plug on ourselves. I have several aluminum caps which I have built into ordinary looking hats. 😉 Oh, they stopped painting helicopters black…they were attracting too much attention 😉

80 is a conspiracy theorist… he’s waiting out for the black helo’s.

Fortunatly for him he’s likely on a red list and will be assasinated before that stage.

😆 😆 😆 😆 😆

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I do recall he used that malewarebytes program…but in the end, I asked him to reformat it all as I had so much crap on there from co-workers, family members, and half of the stuff I had on it I didn’t even use or know what the hell it even was 😕 😯 🙄

I suppose it was a lazy way of cleaning up my systems. Both of them are running now with 95% available space.

One things for sure, if I have any future problems, I will surely ask the smart folks of TAG! I’ll miss you guys when Uncle Sam pulls the plug on this thing called the internet 😥

R u guys still running XP? I am…

I had that same virus . My geek at cyberdefender says it came from russia it piggybacks in on yellowbook . Shut down my network for three days before they got it out .

a friend who knows much more than me about computers said it could not be deleted..

Now the trick is to ask someone who knows more then your friend!

We have a lot of experience people here don’t hesistate to ask. Maybe someone here has experience fixing that stuff.

Same thing on my wifes notebook used malwarebytes and got it all cleaned up. Always do a search on google from another pc anytime you have a problem and you should be able to find a way to fix it without a reformat.

i had that same virus last week on the desktop. it was a pain in the butt to get rid of but i did it with out wipeing the system, used malawarebytes.

So can ‘smit fraud fix’ be used just to search for viruses?

It will check tell you if it finds something it can fix, but it’s not a virus detection tool, per say.

Gotcha..Thanks

Don’t feel so bad. At least your system is in tact. I just had to wipe out my entire system at work due to some trojan virus. It came in the guise of a pop up telling me that I need anti-virus protection. It kept popping up, and a friend who knows much more than me about computers said it could not be deleted…so I had to reformat the system (also, every time I clicked on a website, I would be directed to other websites…)

Needless to say, I lost allot of stuff that I failed to back up…

Then when I get home, my home computer has the same exact virus!!! I am in the process of reformatting that one 🙁

Good luck Mam! Hopefully you’ll be up and running soon!

start taking advice from another friend!

I’m assuming that was the “Antivirus Live” Trojan

there are many write-ups on line that will walk you through its removal
(yes, you’ll need to look it up from another PC because it changes settings to “force” your infected PC to go through a proxy-server and thus “block” you from the internet)

you did NOT need to wipe you system 🙁

PS

NEVER NEVER NEVER trust ANY pop-up! NEVER

.

Yep…. didnt need to wipe it out at all….

I’ve fixed many browser and registry hijacks with the ‘smit fraud fix’. Google it and do a bit of reading. Easy enough to run and no wiping your system.

PPS (EDIT)

keep an updated copy of Malwarebytes on your PC.
it isn’t “live” protection but it will get rid of A LOT of nasty stuff already on your PC

for free anti-virus, i suggest AVG

and obviously, i suggest use of MajorGeeks as a great place to find free PC utilities
