Q:

At what PSI do you see max FPS?

I’ve been playing with top hat settings to calm things down a bit. I seem to practice primarily with lighter pellets and I’m trying to get the velocities down.

At .058 with a sticky foam stop, I’m getting about 50 shots from 2200 to 1600 psi going from 950-1030-950 fps with 14.3 Ultra Magnums. That’s at 0 PW. It seems to peak at 1900-2000psi. Wondering what others are seeing.

Is the sweet spot a function of top hat and PW settings?

Yeah, I can’t shoot anything lighter then 20 grains, I like power though.
That is why I have 2 guns, the other one is for the light stuff. I like the co2 too!

A lighter hammer will work wonders guys… 😉
If you are humping too heavy a hammer, you have to compromise on alot of settings to try and keep the string in the fps range you want, which often leads to the correct fps being in the middle of too high and too low fps. Get the hammer weight right and you can really start to see the desired results, across your entire string. 😀

I have done numerous shots with 15.4 grain pellets.
Always fill to 3k it seems with power wheel at 0 the first 30-35 shots are below Sonic after the 30 put through it starts to go sonic.
At around 50 shots (usually time to fill the tank) the pressure is down to approx 2k. Unfortunately I do not have a chrony yet. But once you get the pattern after a tin of pellets you get to know what to expect. The other down side is re-adjusting scope for POI as velocities climb. This is from a standard .22 Condor with Hi-Flow. I can see why the etac reg would make sense. Also the Blodnob valve would settle the velocity spread. Not sure but have a feeling this is a reason for this custom valve plus added power.
I also shot some pellets at 100meters range with 22 grain TS-22 and Barracuda Match both pellets look almost identical. The Barracudas are alot more expensive how ever they grouped slightly more consistantly. Unfortunately I did not shoot enough to get the feel for this range and power settings. However to get the heavy pellets to shoot with good velocity at 3k fill, the power wheel was wound to 4-6-8 settings this made the velocity feel right. I reduced this setting as fill pressure reduced. This rifle is fricken loud. Bordering sonic with 22 grain pellets, 3k and PW 8. Noticeable increase in air consumption would say 30 shots down to 2.2k.
When I finally get my Chrony and accurate fill clamp gauge I will post some speeds.

Well, I used to just fill it to 2900 and shoot until the 14.3’s went supersonic, so I don’t really know where it maxed out. I always assumed about 2500psi.

You seem to have a very desirable shot string for the light pellets, if you move up in tank pressure, you more then likely will need the powerwheel up higher to even the string up.

do you have a gt500? if i had one i would need new tires every week

everything depends, the higher the pressure the more power potental there is but you also need a heaver hammer to get it. i just depends on the pressure and you hammer and top hat. there is just no good answer
