Atlas bipod?
I am thinking of buying the real deal because I only have a chineese knock off. But is it worth it? How is it like to tilt/pan/cant with the original? Also is there a similar bipod out there with less weight? I have been looking at some carbon fiber bipods but none can have their legs in that sweet 45Ā° angle that is just right with my high scope mount

First let me state I do not have an authentic Atlas bi-pod, so I cannot comment on which is better. Also, don’t hate on me for not buying the real thing, there’s probably not a single person on this forum that doesn’t have a China knock-off of some product in there household, tools, parts, etc.
I do have the cheap knock-off Atlas bi-pod version from China and it is just — Okay. Originally I thought it was legitimately made for Airsoft guns.
1. The legs are wobbly, one is fairly tight and the other wobbles a lot more. I had to disassemble the unit, add some shims under the leg locking detents which helped put a little more pressure on the leg lock, this reduced the wobble significantly. Also tightened the legs so they’re harder to move and don’t wobble at all.
2. The pan and tilt works BUT if you pan to the left, then back, the pan-tilt knob loosens up and it get progressively more loose the more you pan around. I can’t stand this. I’m constantly tightening the knob. I thought about putting something like blue removable lock-tite on the threads but haven’t got around to it.
3. The legs aren’t exactly level. So I have to rotate my bipod slightly to get the bubble level on my gun to be level if the pan-tilt is tightened down. It’s not far off, but it’s annoying.
Having said all that, I would need to try a real Atlas bi-pod before dropping that kind of cash on a bi-pod. It would have to be exponentially better for me to switch, because this $35 knock-off does the job.
I have to agree I have both as well, and I’m going to get another real one and throw the knock off in the trash.
I have two clones and two real. After I modified the clones a bit they work better.
I guess for a pcp air rifle the new improoved version is not worth it right? Over here in Sweden the Atlas BT46-LW17 PSR costs $480…. The normal bt-10 costs $306
no they’re very sturdy, JUST BUY IT!!!
There is no play in the legs of the real deal. All the copies I have had do have some play in them to some extent.
They are rock solid sturdy
I had 7 copies and then ordered the genuine one for my impact.
When I received the genuine one I was so impressed with the quality that I ordered another right away.
Of course there are those that say they are exactly the same even though they have never tried the real deal and I’m pretty sick and tired of telling them they are wrong.

My question is if the legs rattle around? š
Is there any play in the legs? No matter what position the legs are 45Ā° 90Ā° etc they move slightly back and forth so if you shake it around the legs go “clink clink clonk”
Does that happen on the original or is it super sturdy?
Cricket, I have two and love them. Yes they’re more expensive but IMO nothing comes close. The legs swing forward and backward or both directions for that matter. I’ve never had a problem shooting prone or any position.
I tried prone position on flat ground with the legs straight down (like a harris) and it just does not work for me with scope mounted so high. I need that 45Ā° angle with the legs, at least on flat ground
I think real Atlas is worth it because china knock off is useless for tilt or cant š” š” had it sold it š Now I have 2x copy harris bipods and IĀ“m very successful with them. If I have spare money I would try original atlas but never china knock off š

Well the designer of the Atlas bipod has been on here chastising us about the knock-offs personally and he probably doesn’t own a clone. :biggrinn:
